Made it out at 8:15 am and there had been plenty of traffic already. The course did not degrade much during my ski, even though lots of high schoolers were getting a good workout in. The cold snow just kept getting slower. The turns were all a brezze to negotate with no snowpolwed ridges and no ice. The new hill does add some excitement. But as others noted, the snow on it was super slow coming back up. There was a little loose snow, but most spots were still pretty firm. The most sugary spots were the hill up to the meadow and the hill up to the catwalk. It fet like a tough ski with the slow snow!

Miles and miles of beautiful corduroy and deep classic tracks (side-by-side classic tracks in several areas) at Wirth this morning! The newly expanded 6.5K loop is in fantastic shape for both skating and classic skiing. No such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing! Dress in layers and you'll have a great ski under the sunshine today!

Man-made snow only. At 9:30AM in -1F weather, the place was hoppin' and full of energy! There was only overflow parking available. Conditions were wonderful throughout. Tracks were well formed with everywhere except for some of the corners. I had great grip with Swix V20 and 2 layers of Polar in top. Only one corner with some ice where I saw several folks hit the "deck". The ice patch was 3-4' wide and easily avoided.

Got out at 6:45am to immaculate corduroy, didn't get a chance to try the new section but the trails are in fantastic condition thanks to the fabulous grooming! Get out there before the snow hits!

Classic skied again this morning and conditions were great - being the first out on the tracks is always nice. And a new section is open! Another hill to warm up on before La Squadra :).

Just great! Our timing was perfect, as we got there just as the sun was taking reign of the sky, and finished just as the high school racers were taking reign of the course. There was a little sugar on some of the up hills, but not enough to really slow us down. Downhills were perfect. The north finger is now open. It must have just opened as there were not many skate tracks on it yet. The snow on the new section was notably slower than elsewhere. I'm thinking it probably hadn't set up yet--or was I just too worn out for what is probably the biggest hill in the place? We were skating, so can't comment authoritatively on the classic tracks.

I classic skied today around 9:00 AM and yesterday around noon. Yesterday the tracks were clean, deep and firm. Today conditions were quite dirty, shallow, soft and washed out. Very different experiences - was surprised as it didn't seem to windy or too warm in the last 24 hours.

Skied classic on the Green Meadow Loop, Ridgeline Trail, Stadium and LaSquandra around 6 p.m. With the cold temps, there was a nice firm and deep set track (most of the time two sets) around the entire man-made areas. Skiing was fast. Tracks getting a bit glazed, but TK-1814 over a klister base worked really well. Kudos to the groomers and snow-making staff.

Wirth was solid and fast this morning. I was there last night to teach Trail Kids and it was deep sugar and soft. I'm amazed at how dramatic the improvement was in just 10 hours. The sunrise coming up over downtown was a welcome change too. I'll take cold and sunny over the warm cloudy days!

Classic skied at 8:00 am, and the groomers had a rare poor night of grooming. Granted, they did not have much to work with. The track is shallow in some parts, and in other places washed out completely. The big uphill going into the Twin Lake section had a pile of snow at one point, followed by dirty ice and snow. Not ideal conditions, but let's be honest -- it beats the alternative of not having manmade snow. On the upside: all of the downhills this morning were quite good.
