  Trail stretches from Cannon Falls to Red Wing on an old railroad bed. Pretty much flat, but quite scenic.

  Hok-Si-La is a 252 acre park located on the Minnesota side of Lake Pepin in Lake City. 
Lanesboro 6  Lanesboro Golf Course    4K      
  Groomed for skating and classic by the Root River Nordic Ski Club. Easy and challenging loops on the bluff overlooking Lanesboro and the surrounding river valley. Access points at the golf clubhouse or adjacent to the Lanesboro Cemetery.

  The popular biking trail is groomed for classic skiing in the winter. Flat to gently rolling terrain, most of it along the scenic Root River.

  Situated along the wooded Redwood River valley with over 170 feet of elevation change. The ski trail parallels the river down in the valley. Mostly groomed for classical skiing. 
Mankato 9  Minneopa State Park    4km      
  The trail runs through oak savanna vegetation overlooking the Minnesota River and native prairie. A variety of wildlife can be seen. 
Nerstrand 10  Nerstrand-Big Woods State Park    9.6K       507-333-4840
  All 6 miles of trail run through the Big Woods Landscape with portions along Prairie Creek and Hidden Falls waterfall. Park manager recommends skiers walk the short portion of difficult terrain down Hidden Falls Trail to access the intermediate to easy rolling terrain.

  The park maintains 8 miles of groomed cross-country ski trail and 1 mile of skate-ski trail. Cross-country skiers enjoy the flat trails on the bottom of the valley or more challenging routes on the oak-shaded bluffs.

  The Carleton College Arboretum trails are open to the public for skiing. The Upper Arb (6.3 km) is groomed for skating and classic and the Lower Arb (12.3 km) is groomed for classic only.

  Offers several kilometers of traditional groomed trails, which meander through settings of woodland, prairies and along lakeshore.

  Mostly flat, but one gentle uphill/downhill in the southwest corner. Good easy skiing for families, working on technique, or a fast paced workout. Maintained by Owatonna Parks dept. 
Owatonna 15  Kaplan's Woods Parkway    10km      
  Multi-use trail with 7 km of trails in hardwood forest and 3 km adjacent along bikeway lit for night skiing. Ravine terrain provides challenging hills. Wide trails suitable for skating, tracked for classic when snow is sufficient.  
Owatonna 16  Rice Lake State Park    3 km      
  Trails are groomed frequently. Smooth terrain along Rice Lake and through wooded and prairie scenes.  
Preston 17  Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park    14K       507-352-5111
  11 miles of cross-country ski trails of which 8.5 miles are groomed. More than 60 miles of ski trail are available near the park on the Root River Trail System. Primarily intermediate skill level. Grooming is usually done on Fridays for the weekend. 
Red Wing 18  Mississippi National Ski Trails    16k      
  8KM groomed for classic, 7KM groomed for both classic and skating. The classic loop is one through wooded terrain and offers extensive views of the Mississippi River. The trailhead is located at the Mississippi National Golf Course Parking lot 2 miles south of Red Wing. Also known as Red Wing East End Recreational Area.

  This is a county park that contains 1300 acres. They groom about 5 miles of trails. The park is both wooded and hilly and the trails are well marked with maps at most intersections.

  The main training course in Rochester. Usually groomed regularly, it can get a bit hardpacked between snowfalls. 
Rochester 21  Essex Park Ski Trails    8K      
  A mix of newly constructed trails and existing bike paths located at Essex Park in NW Rochester. The northern trails are mostly wooded with many nice hills while the southern trails run through newly planted prairie. Groomed for both skate and classic by volunteers of the Rochester Active Sport Club.

  Rolling terrain around the site of an old Quarry, located right in Rochester. Trail developed and maintained by volunteer crew. 
Rochester 23  Soldier's Field Golf Course          507-281-6160
  Nice quiet trails right in the city on the golf course. With the city light, you can see the trails fairly well at night. 
Waterville 24  Sakatah Lake State Park    8K       507-362-4438
  Sakatah Lake State Park offers roughly 5 miles of groomed ski trails over rolling terrain. Located on the shore of Upper Sakatah Lake, trails range from easy to difficult, with most trails falling in the intermediate range.  
Watson 25  Lac Qui Parle State Park    8K       320-734-4450
  The trail runs through flat flood plains along the shores of Lac qui Parle lake and the banks of the Lac qui Parle river.  
Winona 26  Great River Bluffs State Park    15K       507-352-5111
  Trails rated easy to moderate. 
Winona 27  Saint Mary's University    3 recent reports 13.1k      
  Some of the best trails in southern Minnesota. Tucked in the valley behind the school, the trails run around the northern slopes of the valley making them quite challenging and also well protected from the sun. Some lighted sections, and snowmaking operations.
