Trail Reports

2018-2019 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 23    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Wednesday, March 27, 2019
Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
A good base remains in most areas and spring skiing continues. No recent grooming and the classic tracks are gone. Skating is quite good if you ski at the right time. This morning was surprisingly firm considering no freeze last night. A few thin spots are opening up in south facing spots. There's getting to be a fair amount of easily avoidable sticks and leaves. The lights were turned off at the Lighted Trail yesterday. The trails never officially close and you can ski as long as the snow lasts.

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
A coating of new powder over a firm base made for a good ski this morning. The skate deck is mostly good. The remnant classic tracks are shallow, but they are being used. The snow base is deep, and conditions will vary depending on freeze/ thaw cycles.

Good spring conditions. So far the trails are holding up good and the snow base is deep. I had sticky glide, but it was firm enough for a good ski. Of course that's subject to change depending on what the weather does.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails have been groomed, except the Corkscrew Trail. Conditions are currently very good, get out there and enjoy it while it lasts. Conditions will be subject to change with the weather forecast, but we currently have a deep snow base.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails are groomed and tracked, except the Corkscrew Trail which we will probably not groom the rest of the year. Conditions are good, but still soft. Have fun.

Heavy snowfall is in progress. I skied this morning before it got too deep, but it's accumulating quickly. Grooming will be done when possible.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were packed and tracked this evening, except the Alternate Trail, Engagement Loop, and Ridge Run. More grooming is planned for Thursday. It is soft due to the amount of new powder. I skied backcountry style before it was groomed and also tested out the new grooming. Plenty of snow! Very nice, it may take some time to set up.

Skied the outer loop this morning. Very slow going for skating - soft and lots of loose snow that continued to build up throughout the day. Can't complain about an abundance of snow but definitely should have brought the classic skis today.
