Converted railroad bed, running from West Des Moines to Jefferson, Iowa (north and west of Des Moines). Suggestion: park in Waukee at the trail access and head west. Generally flat to gradual slopes (Bob Larson). Pros: Good surface, great scenery. Cons: Caution required at gravel crossings and bridges. Also, watch for a few spots that need repair.
