Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 28 to 36 of 36    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov
Thursday, December 31, 2015
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good skate, poor classic.
Good skate course with only two spots that had significant debris. I would definitely avoid classic tracks unless you are "sight seeing" or on tock skis. Pretty washed out and thin. Really happy with the condition of the skate trail, but unhappy with my athletic condition!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Mostly wide, well-packed and beautiful for the snow amount. A very few really thin spots, although the trail is chewed up under the bridge - be careful there.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Fair. A bit thin but very skiable.
It appears the trail was rolled this morning but has been heavily used. Some thin spots and a few places where a strong kick would hit turf or a cart path. Definitely rock ski conditions. No classic tracks set but several nice skied in one present. Fun all the same and good to see so many enjoying the fresh snow.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: very soft from fresh snow and lots of use.
The whole trail has been set. Most is pretty good and as it has been for a while. Very narrow at the 7th tee, and unfortunately the trail goes over a sand trap near the 16th green, and goes right out of the bridge on a section that deteriorates quickly.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: 22 degrees, rolled, skied-in classic.
Skied at 4:00 Tuesday afternoon. I skated, but the classic track look fine on the straightaways (washed out on the corners). Although the track had been rolled, by the time I got there, it was either powder or rutted. There were parts with grass showing through, and my pole tips were dulled by the occasional golf cart path. That said, it beats driving all over the metro to man-made snow so that I can ski in my neck of the woods. Thanks, Como.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Soft and mostly covered with some grass and thin areas.
Took the classic rock skis out. Could have used my B skis if careful. There is a thin track on a lot of the trail but it's quite soft. Skate trail was pretty soft as well. Another pass or two with the groomer and a couple more inches of snow and Como could be fantastic. It was very nice to get out after taking last season off.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Fair.
Skate has soft rolled base. No classic track. Not enough snow to set classic, but enough classic skiers to form some track. All the same it's lovely.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Complete snow coverage and ski-able on B-skis. Essentially ungroomed - maybe one snowmobile pass near the chalet. Be careful skiing over any of the paved cart paths and under the bridge where there are small stones and branches that will stop you short. There is a big rock frozen onto the paved path (usual ski trail route) going over the hill at the 1st tee near the chalet.
There have been a fair number of skiers out making trails all over, as well as sledders and walkers. Skating conditions looked good given the amount of snow, classic conditions tended to ice skis in some places - should be better Sunday. One skier dragged a home-made classic tracker and made decent tracks for the conditions.

Grooming Scheduling
Conditions: Closed until condiitions improve.
Unfortunately the ground is still too soft to groom. We'll get out there as soon as conditions are favorable, but it will likely be a couple of weeks still. Cross your fingers for some cold weather and more snow!
