Stop two was to try cleary lake. Ran into the groomer. He stated they only had two inches of base left. They are hoping to groom Sunday morning. Trails were hard with deep skate ruts.

Freshly groomed course at 9 AM. Still soft snow where smaller baskets will go through snow. Slow snow with the 40F temps this morning. Tree debris on trails due to the windy conditions this morning.

Excellent skate and classic. Good place to go to get out of the wind and have quiet. Lots of flats to work on v2 and open field. Fast and well packed.

Skijored the multi-use trail at Cleary. It's been rolled but no classic tracks set. It's still a little soft but it's in fantastic shape.

This was a fun ski tonight on both the lit and moon lit trails. Just enough light to go off the lights. Trail is in great shape no fear of using the good skis. Poles went through the snow easily but the skis were well supported.

Skating was slow: I got that sinking feeling on each loop, despite the fact that it seemed like I was the first or second one after the groomer most of the time. I do hope I can make this "complaint" again and again in the future. Anyway, once that base firms up... Oh, and Cleary was quite pretty.

Skate skiable. Same boulder going up hill that previous person report listed. Very thin and must choose steps in the marsh right after (just before Ironwood split). Also thin and have to step carefully at each of the dips on Ironwood. Reminds me of the skiing we had to do all too often pre-man-made snow days. Still good to be out someplace closer to home than Hyland. Hoping Sunday night brings better days.

Pleased to discover two things today: 1) Cleary's trails in good enough shape for my B Skis with their first coat or so of the season of CH6 (18 degrees at 10:45 am); and 2) the Three Rivers pass I finally purchased is good for the next 365 days, not just until the end of winter. I said B skis, as there were streaks of dirt, a thin base of snow, and on a short hill an exposed rock/boulder surface I'd never noticed before. Note that the Lower Ironwood "spur" is still closed. Also, no tracks set. But great to be on natural snow, and once again at Cleary, which once again offered up its stretches of quiet, serene, woodland skiing.

Cleary is rolled and in fair to good condition for skating, very skiable. No classic track set. Some twigs stick up.
