2017-2018 season

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skating in 0 degree, windy conditions on +3" of fresh powder on top of a soft base made for challenging skiing. To our delight the groomer was out and we were able to ski on corduroy for the last few K's. There is full coverage with a variable pole plant throughout. If the groomer keeps grooming and skiers keep skiiing the base should set up for the best skiing weekend of the winter. The classic lanes are all set and in beautiful condition. Carpe Skiem!

Groomed in the 3" of snow from yesterday. Was able to widen the trail out to normal width. Looks great.

Around 4" of new cold snow which made skiing slow but beautiful. The groomer was out for skate lanes and setting tracks as well. When it sets up overnight the skiing should be great for tomorrow and into the weekend.

I skied the golf course and around the Blue trail there plus out past Old 32 on the Blue. The golf course and blue trail there had one half of the lane groomed and it was fine. Not sure why they didn't groom the other half of the skate lane. Going out on the Blue past Old 32, it was boiler plate. It could really use a scratching up. The classic tracks are in great shape! I'm hoping the trail will be groomed soon, it really needs it. There must have been a lot of traffic this past Sunday.

Very firm frozen surface. Skated north to Symth Rd, full coverage but thin firm deck, tracks very firm. Classiced to old 32, icy track but again full coverage. A few dirt spots showing throw but easily avoided. Think snow!

Skated north of 32 Parking lot. Tough skiing on glazed over surface made the downhills almost to dangerous to ski. The good news was there was full coverage and the classic tracks were well set. With a fresh grooming it might have been terrific for skate.

Disappointed with the trails. Not recently groomed and very icy and rutted. Downhills treacherous. Even the "easy" sections were constant work to stay upright. Weather was perfect. Did soften up a bit as the morning progressed. Could have been a great day if they had been groomed. Classic tracks were great though for a double pole workout.

Trails were good. There were a few soft spots in the skate lane. All the classic tracks were in good shape. There might be a few thin spots. Old 32 parking lot was plowed.

Tracks are the best I have skied on this year. Skate lane is pristine.

Started at the Old 32 parking lot. The lot wasn't plowed but no problem for 4wd truck. The skating deck was groomed the previous day and it had set up well. The snow was a bit warmer than I had anticipated Fast wax blue provided a nice glide. The deck was firm however the pole plants working up hill were a bit soft. The trail was in very good shape for skating. Classic tracks were set on either side of the skating deck. The classic tracks looked like they were deep and I didn't notice any leaves in the tracks. Thanks to the Lakewood Ski Club for maintaining this great trail!
