Trail Reports

2017-2018 season
Reports 21 to 28 of 28    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Saturday, January 20, 2018
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied all of the trail from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Surprised at how good the trails are considering the weather we have had. Most of the trail is in good to fair condition with a few areas where you need to be careful.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails are packed. Skate lanes are in overall fair condition. Track was set on most trails and is in fair to poor condition (thin with debris). We have a 700-750 meter loop with man made snow in very good condition with a track set.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Had an inch of snow overnight and trails were rolled. Still thin, a bit of dirt showing in a few spots, and Red Pine Run and Teddy Bear are not open. Only the 0.7k man-made snow loop has been tracked but there are skiers training on it.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Drove up to Plover to try and get in some skate skiing. They have backed down the 6" of snow they have gotten and the deck is firm with few ruts. With a 1/2" of snow on top I could not see exactly what I was going over besides dusted over leaves but I did not hit rocks. For a 10 degree afternoon I got fairly good glide. Overall good skiing so I would not hesitate to go there and use your rock or B skis.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Very thin base, lots of debris on trails, tracks not set. Skied the green, (easy) 3Km loop, cold temperatures kept the leaves from sticking to my kick wax. The short loop of man-made snow was very good, but very short.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The trails are thin and are in fair condition. The skate lanes show the natural bumps in the trail and there is no track set due to the low snow conditions. However some areas of the trail are in great shape.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
The Standing Rock cross country ski trails have been packed this morning and are thin. We took the 1.5 inches of snow and compressed it down to start our base for the rest of the year. As we get more snow throughout the year we will be able to work out the bumps and divots in the trails.
The 700-750 meter man-made trail is in very good condition and is open.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
We have a 700-750 meter trail with man-made snow that is in very good condition. We plan on grooming daily and cross country skiers may also ski on the hills when they are closed for downhill skiing until we get enough snow to open the rest of the trails.
