Grooming

The trails were packed and are in good conditions, there was a track set on the green loop and is in good to fair condition. We will be setting track on the rest of the trail system tomorrow as the trails harden overnight.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The trail above Bear Lake is closed as is Last Thrill Hill, and avoid the brown, sandy snow on the outer loop near the gravel pit, but otherwise there is about 8-9 K of fair skate skiing. The classical tracks are faint to non-existent. A good idea would be to sharpen your pole tips first since there's about an inch of snow on top of ice.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
The 1/2 inch of new snow made a big difference on the trails. Red Pine and Last Thrill are closed but we skied everything else without issue.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Standing Rocks Ski Trails were groomed today. Red Pine Run Poplar Pass and the Green loop are closed. The rest of the trails are in fair to good condition with some thin, dirty and icy spots. There is one hill on the last inner Blue loop that is difficult to ski. Skiers may wish to avoid the last inner blue loop.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
The Red Trail was groomed today and in good condition wit a little ice, thin in some areas and one short hill with bare spots. First and third inner blue trails are in fair condition and were groomed late on Sunday. Red Pine Run and the second inner blue and Poplar Pass are in very poor condition. The return to the lodge on the green loop is wet and has little snow so skiers should return to the lodge area on the exit.

[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Trails are in fair to poor condition. The trails that have been groomed are very ski-able with some very icy spots. Some sections are not ski-able due to icy conditions. We did not ski red pine or last thrill because of ice. The 3rd inner loop after Tower Rd is also pretty dicey in spots. We did take our skis off and walk down a hill on the far west of the trail. All that being said, we had a lot of fun skiing. The groomers did a great job making a very icy trail usable.

Trail conditions are poor with lots of ice and wet spots and some bare ground. Our 700 meter man made snow loop is in very good condition.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skating: fast and occasionally icy but bad spots are avoidable. Some organic debris but no dirt showing. Skating lane was rolled, but watch out for ice chunks and ice rinks in low spots where puddles had formed. Classic tracks are a mess: ice and dirt and leaves, except for the manmade loop.

From Portage County Website: Standing Rocks Park ski trails will not be groomed today because they are too wet from the rain. The man made snow loop will be groomed and a track will be set.
