[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Got 2-3 inches of snow last night. As a result it allowed us to tear up and set a new deck and tracks. With falling temperatures tonight this will allow both surfaces to harden nicely. Should provide some nice skiing conditions for the weekend.

The deck was tore up at Washburn this morning. Due to the weekend thawing it needed a lot of work. It was resurrected back to life. If we get more snow, it will certainly help conditions. The classic tracks were left alone.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
It appears that the majority of the trails were tilled on Saturday, and that choice by the groomers made and kept things in great shape. Lots of people out skiing skate and classic. There was a fair amount of oak leaves in spots.

The Washburn Trails were as good as they get midwinter this afternoon. The trails were freshly groomed this morning and had been only lightly skied. Glide was very good in mid teens temperatures. The grooming had laid down 3" of fresh snow received this past Thursday on an already good base. Both the skate deck and classic tracks were near perfect--smooth and even. No dirt spots, grass, or rocks at all. The surrounding forest was dressed up with a coverlet of fresh powder. Sunny skies. Marvelous. This report is based on personal observation of 100% of the Washburn skate trail, all of which has a set single classic track on one side of the trail. This skier skied all Washburn classic track yesterday, all of which was in excellent condition. Skiing was commenced and concluded at the Judy Swank Shelter at the Perch Lake Oneida County Park trailhead.

All trail segments were gone over this morning. This means the skate deck has been cleaned up and new classic track wee set also.

After receiving a paltry 1 inch on Monday morning we cleaned up the skate deck, but didn't touch the classic tracks. We want the new snow to be skied over, so as to cover some ice that was making up the tracks in spots.

Very good conditions. Slick on the downhills, plenty of grip with a universal klister base covered with v30. There are few churned up dirt spots in the slow zones (flats and up hills) that can easily be avoided. Washburn never disappoints, hats of to the trail builders and groomers.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We received about 2-3 inches that was groomed this morning. The deck looks good with no bare spots. The classic tracks were reset and there are a half dozen areas with dirt showing. Otherwise, would have rated trails for good skis. Beautiful morning to be in the woods with the new snow.

Conditions were on the slow side today from the cold temperatures, but the trails are in good shape. I skied all the trails and only noticed three rocks poking through. All are easily avoidable. One more good snowfall would help even out the skate deck, but in general it's firm and evenly covered.

Good news for classic skiers. There is now a track at Washburn. The track is not consistent throughout. Those sections of trail designated as track skiing only will have a nice track. For those of you familiar with Washburn, that would mean the classic double track from Kiosk C to G, and the landfill loop, The remaining segments of the "outer" loop will have some marginal track. There remain a few stretches where no track was set.... too little snow, and some dirt. The skate deck was also renovated, and is in good condition.
