Classic skied the 11k blue loop which is very hilly. The tracks were poor to nonexistent. Trails were well marked and the forest was beautiful.

Observation
9:45 am, about 3" of ungroomed new snow, skating close to no-go, classic track looked pretty good.

Morning
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied the blue loop. Skate lane was a little soft but OK. The uphills were getting churned up but debris coming to the surface on only one hill. The part of the loop with the big uphill and across the ridge top had not been groomed as much as the rest of the trail and was softer; some of the skate tracks had pushed through to the ground. The classic track held together for the most part but my husband said there was stubble poking through in places.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Another fresh dusting of snow overnight gave the trails a fresh layer of snow. Groomers were out overnight and groomed all trails. Skate lanes are in very good to excellent condition, and a classic track was also set. Temperatures should help the snow set up nicely, so get out there and enjoy the trails! Note: There is an event on the biathlon range on Saturday Feb 10th.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
McMiller trails received approximately 3-5" of fresh snowfall overnight. Groomers were out early rolling and packing it down. There is still not enough snow to lay track. Conditions are rated to be good so get out there and enjoy it while you can! Please be aware that there is a layer of ice under the snow in many areas, especially at the bottom of hills or low spots. Trails will be busy over the next 3 days. Enjoy!

Skated the blue loop wednesday afternoon. Almost 100% full coverage. We were 2nd on the corduroy as the system had just been groomed. Slightly soft but still wonderful.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skated Blue, Purple, Green. These trails had all been, or were in the process of being, rolled but were still pretty soft. No classic track was being set. Most of trail had good cover. Some thin spots at the start and in the pines in various places, but still skiable. Uphills were less of a problem than the downhills. Uphills were a little like mashed potatoes, or like the later waves of the Birkie. Downhills were a little hairy - difficult to edge in the soft show and with ruts from other skiers. Overall, a pretty enjoyable day - bright sun, calm winds, and a chance to get out into the woods.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the purple trail, following tracks of a previous classical skier or two. The trails have been roller groomed, but not tracked. I chose to use my waxless skis, but could have used good skis as the snow cover was good to very good throughout. Ice under the snow made pole planting a challenge, but the new soft snow made for a great afternoon workout. Parking lot was plowed, and warming hut open.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skated the outer blue loop, new warming lodge is great! Parking lot wasn't plowed as of 2:00, but all trails were at least partially groomed. Many area were the new fluffy snow had slid off the ice base, difficult to get good pole plants, and very soft in other spots, but for the first time off the hamster wheel it was awesome!

After leaving Nordic, I came to see if conditions were better here and they were. There was no glide because the pack was soft, and I'd call it fair overall. Happy I came here, but far from ideal. I skied blue and some of the back sections of blue only were very soft and seemed almost ungroomed. However, I would come back here just to have the chance to get out and ski. Definitely a hard workout! Hopefully a bit more snow will allow for a harder pack. Kudos to the groomer for what they did manage with the underlying ice.
