Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skating is firming up pretty well. Spots where a basket will go through crust toward the outsides, and some lingering boot prints / debris but trails are in pretty remarkable shape given the challenges of the past week. Thanks to all the volunteers and Jerry for all of the effort whipping it back into shape!

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Classic skied behind Jerry's snow machine on deep yet soft fresh tracks. Upper and Lower Fields and Prairie Loop are groomed and tracked. First small loop into the Woods is groomed. The East, West, and Fox Hill Loops are not groomed at this time. Great to be out!

Observation
[ Trails Open: Most ]
Out with Jerry and group of folks helping to pack and clear trails of storm debris. Some difficulty getting through east and west loops due to soft deep snow and a few downed trees. Jerry was actively grooming main fields and some of woods afterward.

Grooming
[ Trails: Closed, Good skis ]
Too much of a good thing! The latest storm hit CLCF/Fox Hill with 18" on top of the 6-7" of wet/heavy stuff on Tuesday. The grooming snowmobile struggled to make it around even to pack it down a bit before grooming can even be attempted. The biggest challenge is the downed trees, branches and debris. Heavy snow/ice brings the branches down over the trail making the grooming impassible. It would be helpful if folks on snowshoes can hike the trails and pick up sticks, branches and debris to help the groomers do their thing.

Observation
[ Trails: Closed ]
We received about 15 inches of snow. There are trees across the trails and low hanging branches. At this time, the trails have not been groomed and doubt that the parking lot is plowed.

Skied this afternoon. No tracks set, but all trails had been groomed. Did not do woods course, but the rest of the trails were beautiful. Thank you Jerry for keeping the trails so nice.

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Soft new snow as expected. Lot not yet plowed. Jerry was out grooming and clearing trails of downed trees and branches. Indicates any help in clearing debris is appreciated. Should be in great condition as snow settles and temps stabilize. Scenery was fantastic - always a bonus.

The upper and lower fields were groomed for skate, thin conditions but complete coverage. Rock or B skis recommended. Porta potty arrives Monday.

Another amazing November ski (day 3) at Fox Hill/CLCF! Skied this late morning all that was groomed-about half the system. Reality is the packed snow depth is only 1/2 to 3/4' but its so perfectly groomed that skiing is almost in mid-season condition. Grooming primarily on the grassy sections so little to no risk to good skis (however, mine had 1989 Birkie stickers on them). West loops/Woods/Corkscrew all closed. Get it while you can before it warms up.

A second day of remarkable early season skiing at CLCF. Skied about an hour in upper and lower fields. Used B skis with vigilance on thin base with few breakthroughs. Grateful to Jerry Gensch for grooming efforts and to be out skiing in November!
