Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The trails were groomed from the parking lot up and through all three loops in the woods. The trails in the woods looked best although there are sticks on the trail from the wind storm. Will come back tomorrow and groom all of the upper fields.

Perfect conditions and all trails were groomed to perfection! Classic tracks were set on almost all trails. Skied from about 10:30-12:30 and then the snow was starting to get soft in the full sun areas. It may firm up again late afternoon as the sun angle gets lower. Get out and enjoy before tomorrow's weather.

There was about 3/4" of snow on the trails when I arrived and it was snowing and drifting. There was still a good glide however due to the well groomed and firm surface underneath. After about 1/2 hour of skiing the groomer came out and laid down some nice corduroy for me and asked me how long and where I would be skiing. It was still coming down when I left, but may firm up overnight. I needed a push to get going up the hill out of the parking lot as there is still ice under the snow. Park on the upper side if you go in the lot.

Phenomenal conditions at Fox Hills today. Some of the best conditions of the season! Even with all of the recent snow, there was great glide and one could easily find an edge. Thanks Jerry so much for making Fox Hills as amazing at it is!!!

Fair to good skating today. A skate lane was created by crunching up the ice, but in some places it came out in chunks, making the surface uneven but skiable. Jerry was headed back out this afternoon to keep working it, so it should be good tomorrow. A guy with two dogs walked the dogs right down the middle of the trail, despite my politely informing him that the hiking trail was right next to where he was clomping.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very good day at former Fox Hill. Approximately 6-7 inches of snow came down over an icy base, so I was concerned about skating down through snow to ice, but over two hours that never happened. The snow had more moisture than the stuff at my house in Milwaukee. Deck was soft, so it was slow. I double-poled in the classic tracks and they hardened up significantly while I was there.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Freshly groomed and tracked yet soft as would be expected after 8" of fluffy snow. There are sheets of ice under the snow in places on the trails and in the entire parking lot. There is some parking along the road. The groomer asked people to stay off the trails on Thursday during the warmup to keep ruts from forming when it gets cold again on Friday; by then the snow should consolidate and adhere to the icy base.
