We are holding off on grooming the 1-2" of snow we received this week to try to preserve skiing as much as possible as temperatures rise in the week ahead. All trails are open and ski conditions are good.

I skied Snowman and Canyon. Tracks were in good shape and I saw no bare spots. I expected the snow to be a lot slower and stickier but for 32F it wasn't too bad.

Pincushion Loop, North Advanced Loop, Hilfiker Hill, Morris Maze, Canyon Curves and the B and B Loop have been re-groomed for skating and classic styles. West Overlook has its skating lane re-set. Conditions are good to very good, considering the low-snow conditions. Packed base depth: 1-3".

There is full snow coverage on the trails. The overlooks and snowman trail I skied were groomed for skating and one or two sets of classic tracks. The classic track have seen a lot of traffic.

Today was a busy day at Pincushion as we hosted the Cook County Invitational Ski Races for over 180 high school and junior high skiers. Thanks to Mike Crook as Race Director and to the host of volunteers who helped out.
This evening following the race Bill re-groomed all of the trails that were used for the race - Stadium, East and West Overlook, Upper and Lower Snowman. Skate lanes all done and some stretches of classic tracks were re-set. Conditions are good.

Had a blast skiing at Pincushion today! Skied almost all trails -- looked like pretty much all were open. The groomers have done an excellent job and the tracks were great. There is some debris and dirt, as to be expected. The tracks were surprisingly fast for such a cold day. Thank you groomers for a great day of skiing!

Grooming Scheduling [ Trails Open: Partial, ]

Winter is here! We received about 4-5" of new snow up to now with more falling today. Stadium, East and West Overlook and Upper and Lower Snowman and Pincushion Loop are fully groomed and tracked. Work continues on advanced trails. Get out and enjoy the skiing before the polar vortex arrives over the weekend. Scheduling: A reminder that the Cook County Invitational Ski Race for over 200 high school and junior high skiers will take place at Pincushion from 11:00 to 2:30 on Tuesday Jan 16. Spectators are welcome.
