Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
With 3" new snow, I groomed everything today. It took 3 passes with the Ginzu instead of the usual 2. It looks beautiful but is very soft. Should be excellent tomorrow and Friday (if you can handle the cold temps).

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
After the 10" snowfall and multiple packing, then grooming passes (it was really soft today so I groomed again), the trails (skate and classic) are looking beautiful and have plenty of base to set good tracks everywhere. These trails connect to the Rib Lake trail system and Timms Hill; altogether maybe 70k with plenty of snow and lots of hills.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We got about 10" of snow Monday; I rolled some of the easier trails this morning but Del will be out there on the LMC (our ski hill groomer) this afternoon. It will be Wednesday morning before the trails will be ready to ski - then I'm sure it will be excellent conditions!

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I groomed the skate lanes early this morning and put out signs for the Hinderbinder Race (Saturday morning race). The skate lanes and most of the tracks are in excellent condition. Its going to be a good race!
Anyone not racing Saturday should not plan to ski here until the afternoon. The Rib Lake trails are groomed and open to skiing all day Saturday.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I am in process of grooming (all 18k) the trails today, stopping the knock snow off branches hanging into the trail (or clipping them off if necessary), so its taking much longer than usual. It will be very beautiful but soft today; will need an overnight of colder temps to firm up. Conditions should be excellent once I'm done and the tracks/skate lanes firm up.
Trails will be closed on Friday in preparation for the Hinderbinder Race here on Saturday morning. Should be a great day; you can still register for the race on Saturday morning.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Mostly excellent conditions except under the hemlocks on a few trails; not able to set tracks in several short stretches of trail where the snow cover is still thin. (As the trail groomer) I'll be out of town a couple of days and won't be around to groom again until Wednesday. Trails will be closed on Friday as we prepare for the Hinderbinder Race on Saturday. You can still register for the 12k or 24 k race on Saturday morning!

I was so lucky to be there just as the groomer was done with some trails. He added on everything I skied on and by. Great bluebird day.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
We received about 5" snow on Thursday; wet and heavy stuff that packs well. I rolled the trails last night and am grooming trails today. It is just what we needed to go from "fair" to "very good" conditions. Lots of low-hanging tree branches and brush leaning over/into the trail edges so you have to be ready to duck under or dodge around them until they spring back up. It makes for challenging grooming on the Sherpa! I expect we'll have very good conditions for the Hinderbinder race on January 20.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Finally some warmer temps and great glide on the skate skis! I used my good (my only) skate skis and was able to avoid small bits of leaf debris and dirt in areas where the snow cover is still thin. Classic tracks are okay but need more snow and another grooming to be considered something better than "fair to good".

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
I groomed the skate lanes today; the 1" of new snow was not enough to set new tracks (they are a little shallow and wiped out in spots but mostly okay). I would call conditions "fair to good" for both skate and classic. Use your "B" skis or ski carefully where the snow is obviously thin under the hemlocks.
