2017-2018 season

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Icy crust at 10 am convinced me to use my good skis because they have better edging. Removal was required a few times on the 10 k loop but unnecessary on the others. Trail softened up nicely as time went on. Outside of two uphills with avoidable bare spots, the trail had full snow coverage. Worth the trip.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Picked up an inch+ of slop overnight so groomed and set track on all the loops. Trails came out great and the track looks really good. There are a few thin areas on the 10K loop - the snowmobile crossings and the steep hill - and the first hundred yards of the ski trail is getting pretty dirty (if you start at the chalet and ski past where the groomers are parked you can avoid it). We had a group ski tonight and for the most part it was very good with just a few mash potato sections otherwise super fast and fun. Classic skiers were really happy with the track - it's full depth and solid. I plan on grooming tomorrow morning to clean up the skate marks we left behind tonight.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skied (striding) the 6k yesterday afternoon and again this morning. Morning is better for classical, as the tracks are firmer. The groomer was going out as we left at 10:30 today. Hoping he's going to leave the tracks in place. They're fair to good in most places. These are amazing trails, and the spring skiing is great! Hoping to continue skiing the 6k loop next week.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skied pretty much the entire trail system and the Spring ski conditions are good to very good. The trail was last groomed on Wednesday but it sounds like the groomer went over it again this afternoon. The skate deck was firm even where the Spring sun had soften the snow a bit. You won't find any leaves, pine cones or other debris on these trails. This trail system is definitely worth checking out for what may be the last few days of my season. There is still a ton of snow in the woods and all the trails still have a substantial base.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Just finished grooming the skate lanes - conditions for the most part look excellent - track ranges from fair to poor and snowmobile crossings on the 10K loop are almost completely bare. Best skiing will be mid-morning after trails have a chance to soften up.
Road the fat bike trail yesterday afternoon and for the most part it is still in very good shape with a solid base and complete coverage except for two spots: the first 20 yards out of the parking lot and the berm-y section of the Green Trail. The more exposed areas are softening up but still totally rideable. This morning I decided to groom the trails one last time to see if I can clean up some minor rutting and smooth up the softened areas and it came out great. I did close the berm-y section of the Green Trail however because of puddling - please respect the closure to avoid damaging the trail and exit onto the ski trail where it is ribboned off.
If you're looking to get one last fat bike ride in this season, consider this weekend last call. My advice: ride early morning and wrap up by noon or early evening after temps drop below freezing - either way, there's plenty of daylight now.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Waited until the trails softened up this afternoon and groomed the skate lanes of the 6, 7.5 and 10K loops. Trails are still looking very good with nice corduroy, tracks present and plenty of clean base (the only areas that are thinning down and showing a little dirt are at the snowmobile crossings on the 10K loop - the only reason I recommend B skis). Our ski trails are in hardwoods, aspen and red pine and are free of any leaves, needles and pine cones.

Pretty nice skating conditions. Looked like Robert had just finished grooming. He broke up the crust perfectly, in my humble opinion. Just cold enough today to prevent the trail from getting too soft in the sunny areas.

Morning
Grooming Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Took a quick lap around the skate lanes of the 2.5, 6 and 10K loops with the groomer this morning, breaking up the hardpack. Between that and the sun coming out and softening up the deck a little bit, the skate lanes are looking good with no bare spots or debris. The track is starting to melt out and getting thin in a few sections. I tried resetting it in a few places but it didn't form up that great. Talked to a couple riders on the fat bike trail this morning and they reported great bike trail conditions.

Grooming

Roughed up the skate lanes early this morning and they look great - still plenty of base, no bare spots and no debris. Tracks still look good and left them be. Great spring conditions.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Picked up 1-2" of snow this morning and just finished grooming all the snowshoe and ski trails and track set the entire 20K of ski trails. Trails are clean of any debris, tracks are full depth, base is smooth and firm, temps are in the 20s, sun is burning through - can it get any better?
