Man made loop tracked and groomed very well as, usual. Natural loops were groomed for skating but tracks were not re-set and thus were very icy in most places; it's a pity that we couldn't take full advantage of the (unusually) abundant snow in the natural trail tracks.

Beautiful skiing conditions under the bright sun this afternoon at Hyland for some post-Birkie skiing, with lots of folks out enjoying the new snow. The man-made loop was pleasantly firmer than I expected, and glide was pretty good considering we just got 10" of snow over the last few days! The natural snow trails were a lot softer, but overall not bad for skating. Classic tracks are pretty shallow to non-existant on the natural snow trails at this point, but I expect all trails to get better and better this week with the overnight temps below freezing all week.

Skied with Fast Eddie this morning around 10 am. Icy spots were covered with fresh snow and grooming making for a great ski day. Not many takers. The trail leading to Richardson was great as was the twig leading to the lit trails around the lake. The extension off the lighted trails around the lakes is my favorite. Nice long climbs, quiet, lots of trees and fast snow. Rex Blue was the bomb today?

Skated the man made loop between 6:00 and 8:00 PM. Classic tracks were mediocre from what I could tell. Despite the weather, skating was fairly fast. It was getting icy in certain areas by 8. It wasn't fully packed down in all areas, but was good skiing.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Observation
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Skied the man made snow loop when the temp was well above freezing. Classic tracks firm, damp and glazed in spots, skate lane firm, damp, but a little softer. There were some skiers who did the other trails, on those the classic tracks appeared to be fading but the trails were fully covered from the small segments I could see. Used Rex liquid red klister and it worked well.
