The best Hyland's natural snow trails have looked in 4 years! We skied everything except the snowmaking loop and the track was firm and mostly great. Skate deck also smooth and clean for the most part. I think you could use good skis, but I was on my B skis. There are some sticks, dirt, etc but easily avoided and I didn't see any icy sections.

Last night I dumped snow on thin patches where dirt was coming up on the hill (uphill right turn near the end), lake (near the start), oak knob (near the end) and nature center spur (weeds by the pond and top of the hill by the worksite) trails. Tonight, I will make sure that these spots remain filled in. All skate decks are excellent and are easily the fastest they have been in the last few days. Classic track is great on oak knob and north, thin on sections of lake. Track on the return side of the nature center has been "washed out" in a few spots, but I will reset that section tonight. I would get out and ski the lake and nature center trails while you still can!

Skied North, Nature Center and Oak Knob natural trails. Tracks were in surprisingly good shape, with only isolated tufts of grass poking through.

I feel a little silly making a trail report for Hyland since there are so many, but I wanted to report on the condition of the natural trails. The North Loop is in really good shape--I'd call it great conditions. The classic track is deep throughout, and I found no dirt on the trail either classic or skate. Good skis are recommended, and it's a nice change from the hamster wheel of the manufactured snow loop. The Nature Center Spur, Lake Trail and Hill Trail are not quite as good, with a few dirt spots in the track and on the skate portion of the trail, and the classic track is not quite as deep. The spots can generally be avoided, but I probably wouldn't take your best skis on those trails. The manufactured snow trail remains impeccable, as expected.

Perfection on the natural snow trails! I skied all of the natural snow trails this morning, and the snow conditions are the best in 4+ years. Perfect corduroy and super clean snow. No debris except at the very top of the uphill going to the Richardson Nature Center. Easily avoidable. All the rest of the trails (North, Lake, Hill) are in primo shape. I used my best race skis without a problem. Classic tracks are shallow on Lake, Hill, and North, and I believe not present on the nature center loops, but skating is perfect everywhere. The "man-made" loop is also in great shape, of course. These are some of the best days of the season to be out there enjoying the natural snow!

Skied most of the trails this beautiful morning. Well groomed. Lakes trail was icy. The south trail was on par with the north trail. Looks like they rolled them recently. The man made loop was in excellent condition.
