Trail Reports

2017-2018 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 30    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Tuesday, March 13, 2018
Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trails were groomed in the last few days and now have about an inch of fluff in the tracks. East Trail is pretty much just flat groomed but the others are all tracked. Kinda of a hard pack surface on the trail off the tracks but not too fast. Cold weather helping keep the trails intact.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We have broken equipment and we set for classic on east trail but we are using a smaller groomer to finish the season out. We are fixing equipment, Dave did the best we could with the tracker we have.

West trail was great. Groomed well for classic, fast and fun. East trail, groomed but not for classic. Devils run was great.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Condition fair with 6" base all trails groomed and tracked, we have some debris on the trails under hemlock and red pine stands. Track setting was not set as good as our other groomer but should make for a good weekend. Enjoy!

Afternoon

The west trail is nicely groomed, but the east trail is slow and sticky and has not been groomed since last snowfall. Would be great to get a little more skiing in while there's still good snow!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
There's enough snow for classic sking, but soft and some sticky as warm temps and sun affect snow. Not much tracking since machine broke but most trails groomed. Signage is a problem, definitely not user-friendly.

Grooming

Conditions Good with 10" base due to heavy snow we could not groom Lake Loop and 9 mile. It was a long day trying to work the heavy 5" snow new snow but it turned out pretty good. Should make for a good weekend of skiing and will work on this trail next week.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
There was about two inches of new snow with an ice crust on top on all the trails. I was the first skater on the trails and there were only one or two classic skiers before me. Therefore, conditions were fair. I skied the lake loop twice. That's always fun!

Anvil trail especially military trail to and from the parking lot on military road have been very well groomed. Not only today, but all season. I know that when I go to Anvil I will have a great skiing experience. Thanks for all the hard work USFS!
