Conditions: Excellent. Bring the A skis.
Skied the classic only trails the day after skating for Sisu fest. After a slower snow start than usual, the trails at ABR have great coverage... Skate or classic.

Observation
Conditions: Trail conditions were great for the SISU start. Snow was falling all day and skiers were making the best of it.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make it happen and the chiefs who organized such a smooth event.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Good skis ]
We had a good course for the SISU this morning. A few bumps into town but all the trail was well covered for racing and firm. We regroomed all the trails again this afternoon and this evening and will be 100% for day skiers in the morning at 9 AM.

Grooming Scheduling
We received about 3 inches of heavy wet snow today and an inch or 2 of drier snow last night. Groomers were out at 6 AM and had the entire trail system regroomed by 9 AM. As the temps rose the last groomed trails were being groomed at 33 degrees. Earlier trails groomed had an inch or so of snow on top. After coffee break we headed into town on the SISU trail, temps were in the mid 30's, tricky grooming but we groomed. It will be very firm, the SISU Trail had 8 passes today and it is starting to really level out. We plan to regroom at 4 AM with a team of 6-7 groomers, we may be grooming fresh powder into the base or on top of the base. We may be regrooming the base from today....Conditions may vary on the SISU course due to the timing of grooming from today and from Sat morning. Good Luck to SISU Racers! Classic only trails were all regroomed today including Windy Ridge. they will be regroomed in the morning as needed and are open except a portion of Jack Pine; Skate Trails will be open at noon.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Good skis ]
Just coming in from grooming with the the crew. We groomed the race course for the SISU tonight up to the 30 km mark. I saw all white and the trail is really smooth. We have a full crew heading out in the early morning to groom classic only trails and the SISU into town. It looks like a good race course. Recreational skiers and day skiers will have ABR classic only trails to ski SaturdayA morning and the entire course will be open for day skiing after 12 noon Saturday. Friday all trails are open and Sunday all trails are open. We have a 4 BR house on the SISU Trail for rent, sleeps 13, a new property, nice Farm house.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Very good, firm and fast.
Today we had a beautiful day of skiing on the trails at ABR. The sun was shining, no wind, mid twenties, the classic tracks were firm and fast. The skating deck was nice and fast as well. With the low snowfall this winter Eric and his grooming crew have worked their magic again and have almost all the trails in very good condition. We have skied almost all the trails and I would just avoid Wolfe Tracks until they get another 6-8" of snow.
Should be great skiing for the Sisu race this weekend.

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
The new groomed up like a magic carpet this morning and skied like silk. The sunny 25 degree weather helped put smiles on all the skiers faces! We re-tracked 64 km of trails and groomed 35 km of skate lanes this morning after the new snow. Then after coffee break (and Christmas cookies from Mom), 7 of us headed out with groomers and shovels on the SISU Trail into town and back. The trail is looking very good with a few thin areas under the pines; there are no longer any wet areas.

Just coming in from checking the trails and regrooming. The trails had some use good today so we will be resetting classic only trails in the early morning. I regroomed 10 km of skating trails on the hills tonight so that they will set up firm and the rest of the trails will be regroomed in the morning. Snowshoe trails are getting use also.
