Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: With the new (unforecasted) snow today the skiing drastically improved. We were able to level out the trails and cover up icy areas. The classic tracks were much more enjoyable as well with a coating of snow in them over the glazed surface.
Groomers are headed back out in the morning to smooth out the snow that fell after this mornings grooming.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: We groomed up about 20 km this morning with teeth down and up leveling out the bumps but being careful to not bring up debris. The skiing this morning from 9-noon was rated very good for early season. Afternoon skiers found ice and skied out trails. We will be back out in the early morning hours patching and re-grooming; we have a crew of 6 for Monday morning. The trails are well covered but the thin base can get hard and icy after heavy skier traffic.
We are grooming most of the 70 km of trails but are only skiing on about 20 km until we get more snow. Tracks are set on 10 km.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Had a nice day of classic skiing Saturday.Temp was cold enough to use a cold kick wax so you did not pick up too much debris. With Sundays warmer temps debris could be a problem on warmer kick wax. If you want to classic no wax classic would be a better choice. Trails are rough and icy in spots but we are on snow.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: We regroomed about 30 km of trails this morning and last night and the trails are really starting to level out. We did not reset the classic tracks since they are holding up well. We will be back out in the early morning regrooming the trails.
Demo days went well today with Fischer and Atomic present with their race skis and boots for on snow demo, and Toko doing a Wax Clinic. Rascals Cabin, a "Dog friendly" Rustic cabin is complete and available for rental!

Grooming
Conditions: I am just coming in from checking trails and doing some touch up grooming. I was worried about the base being soft but it did freeze up hard with the grooming yesterday and this morning. The wet spots did turn to ice but you can navigate around those. We have a 2-3 inch base but it is a bit bumpy. The trail base is grass so you can use good skis if you are careful. The classic tracks have grass here and there and are not full depth but they are getting use. We groomed 20 km that is very skiable, we packed another 45 km to freeze it down. It is best to read trail reports in the cabin before skiing. 9 degrees and light snow falling.
Demo Days Saturday 10-3.

Grooming Scheduling
Groomers are coming in for the night. We saw the trails are firming up well. As we groomed we saw heavy snowfall squalls so thick that you could not see and then clear again...Lake effect at its best. We have a full crew heading out again in the early morning hours and we plan to groom until noon when we will open for skiing on Friday. I would expect about 20 km groomed for Friday some with classic tracks and then more for Saturday and more for Sunday. Demo Days are on for Saturday with Fischer and Atomic attending as of of tonight. ABR is open for skiing at noon Friday, we close for skiing at dark. We plan to open until March. 7 days a week including Holidays.

Evening
Grooming Scheduling
[ Bare ground ]
I am just coming in from checking the trails and they seem to be holding snow well on the high and dry trails. Sulos is still wet, etc. The snow on the ground tonight is 2- 3 inches, melting from the bottom slightly. We will resume grooming Thursday and plan to open for Friday skiing. the forecast appears to being OK and the cold temps and another inch or so should make for good early season skiing on about 20 km of our trail system.
Conclusion: We are not open for skiing until Friday. We plan to open the ski trails again for the third time this season on Friday and we will stay open until we are not skiable. This includes staying open for Holidays.

Scheduling
The forecast looks marginal for Demo Days conditions with brand new race skis this weekend. We have decided to postpone Demo Days until next Saturday Dec 19th. Fischer and Atomic have confirmed attendance, other vendors may confirm the new date as well.
