The 6" of high density snow we received overnight worked in reasonably well this morning with the roller. We call everything Excellent but with all this wind today, open areas will be blown in. Trails are fairly soft yet, phat bikers may find it tough going. Monday all trails will be re-groomed in the morning.

These classic trails are not to be missed. Even with some freezing mist, the freshly groomed tracks were lovely and the new snow made the river trail a total winter wonderland. The UP really does snow.

Today we back country skied and hit the trails a bit also. The trails remain in excellent shape. The recent cold temps have kept the tracks and trail surface in perfect shape. Today we had our first warm day in weeks, 30 degrees. Back country conditions were excellent on the firm crust and it sure was nice to have a break in the weather.

Today was the 11th Annual Barnelopet, hosted by KNSC, Sons of Norway, and the City of Hancock. Special thanks to Portage Health Auxiliary for sponsoring the event so we can offer it for free, to get as many kids as possible out to enjoy cross country skiing. We skied the trails before the event and found everything in its usual, excellent condition. Tracks are set up and holding up perfectly. The kids today had a great day - the cold wind was really only felt in the parking lot. Photos say more than I can.

The minimal amount of new snow we received over the past 24 hours was drug in early this morning, then tracks reset. The tracks and trails are at their highest level of excellent. Since we've drug the last 2 times out, our fat biking members should find the base nice and firm.
