Skied both groomed trails and bushwhacked as part of the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club's Retro Ski. There has been a lot of fresh snow that has clearly been rolled and tracked with outstanding conditions. A bushwhack on the Ruby Marsh is a must ski!

Hopefully folks didn't let single-degree temps and a bit of a breeze keep them off the trails...because skiing was excellent, and the trails perfect! Thank you groomer Colin for getting all the trails freshened up for everyone today.

Thanks to more snow, and with the wind switch shut off for now, the skiing is perfect at Maasto. Groomers were out early, as usual. Photos included here were taken between 9 and 10 AM.

All trails were regroomed this morning and new tracks made with the few inches of snow we received over the past 24 hours. They are indeed excellent.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
With the fresh snow that we got overnight, all trails were dragged level, then tracks reset. Most are excellent, but some such as under pine trees did not receive as much fresh snow and remain modestly icy, with shallower tracks. All in all a great day to get out!

The modest snow we received was drug in and tracks made everywhere. It can't get any better than this. I couldn't resist taking many photos of it and posted just a few. Of course everything is excellent. The trails should be firm enough for excellent fat biking as well.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
After the previous days' melt and now freeze, this hardened snow was scratched up via drag and new tracks made. Some areas with a pine canopy did less well. Today we'll call them mostly excellent but some good.

This morning, all trails were drug so as to smooth up the drifts we got yesterday with that wind. After that, all tracks were made new again. Of course they are excellent.

All of Maasto and Churning was repacked with the roller, then tracks reset this morning. Couldn't get any nicer! Trails are all in top-notch shape. Light snow is falling so you may not see the corduroy if you ski later in the day.
