Skated late morning on mostly Brown, Green, Purple, and Red Trails. Skipped first section of Pines on good advice = covered with pine tree litter (take detour on Red for 1 Km then back to Green/Purple.) Purple pine plantation sections are OK. Trails were groomed then skated in, but were flat with good control. Easy to ski around otter slides on downhills. Around noon, speed slowed as top surface got "packy". Used B skis but others were using race skis. All in all worth the drive.

Terry Knier was out grooming at 8AM. Thanks Terry! I got on the trail at 9 and skied the brown, green, red and purple loops. The brown, green and red were the best. Icy fast with a pretty good edge in most areas excluding the pines on the front part of purple. Downhills on the curves need caution.

Went to Greenbush around 9 am this morning. Groomer was out while I was there. I only skied the brown loop but was pleasantly surprised. A few icy patches on the downhills but overall fairly good and felt like I had good control the entire time. Another skier said he skied purple and that it was slightly less icy than previous days. Not bad considering the weather we've had this week!

Hard icy conditions. Be very careful or don't ski. Good news: some base, lots of ice, luge type tracks which are good for double pole workout. Bad news: Not much snow to work with, warmer weather coming.

Skated the Green, Red and Brown loops. Certainly a very hard track but I found that I could snowplow enough to control my speed on the downhills for a relatively safe descent. Most of the uphills had enough ground up ice/snow on them so you could get an edge and skate up them... if you were sort of avoiding those areas where it was full on ice. So if you are training for the birkie and need the ski in my view it's worth it. Classic skiers better have a full klister coating and of course, not expect tracks. Best to ski early in the morning on the weekend and avoid skiing on it and rutting it up as the temps rise and the base softens.

Hard, icy, and dangerous. Came out in the afternoon, did a brown loop to see how things were. Brown was okay, icy at the bottoms of the hills, but thought if it was an indication of the rest of the system it would be okay. Not the case, did 1 purple and called it good. Icy and hard to get an edge at all. The hills were washed out and dangerous if you weren't paying attention. Lots of debris, pretty much ended up double poling the whole thing (not in the tracks) because you really couldn't skate all that well. Not planning on a return until it softens up or we get more snow, not worth the drive. You might be able to do some hill repeats on that first hill up to purple from the warming house if you're itching to get out. Groomers did their best, but not enough weight to really grind into the ice.

Monday's rain followed by cold temps turned Greenbush to ice again. But, as usual, Greenbush is skiable with much caution for those of us that just can't stand to miss a day of skiing. Classic track is a luge run and I'm getting too old for that. Skate deck was tilled and skaters were flying, but getting some edge on most sections. Watch out for downhills. Inner loops were better. Hopefully, as temps rise groomers will be able to scratch things up and conditions will improve. Such a bummer to go from amazing conditions to an ice rink.

The rains from Tuesday made the trails hard as a rock. The trails have been groomed and a deep base remains throughout the trail system, but the edging isn't good. The downhills are icy and dangerous, even for us elite skiers. Not worth the drive. If you fall, you will feel it. Even on the flats, the trails were hard and icy in spots. Need a bit of snow or softening of snow for better conditions. I ski here a lot and sorry, but this is an honest report.

Thanks to Terry, the skate deck on all trails were groomed this morning. Great conditions but getting softer as the morning went along. The classic track still looked solid.

The trails appeared freshly groomed with new corduroy. Nice conditions, but I needed a softer wax as the weather warmed up (about 35 as I left). No ice.
