Observation
[ Trails: Closed ]
With the rain and warm temperatures since Monday afternoon, the Greenbush Trails have been closed to preserve the base. The entire Group Parking Lot has become an ice skating rink. Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive from downtown Greenbush to the trails is salted, but still very icy. Be careful if driving out that way.

Good to excellent compared to around here. Arrived at 7am before the freezing rain moved in. Being my first time here, the 1.5 hr drive was well worth it. Skated 3 purple loops and one red(about 24k)-solid base with about an inch of snow on top-enough for good control. Very few icy spots and some debris here and there.

Classic skied the purple and green loops. Although the snow is not deep, the tracks are in good to great condition. Very enjoyable.

Late afternoon ski of the purple loop, classic track. Very nice skiing, with a small amount of debris and tracks a little worn at the corners as is typical. There was an icy patch or two including one on a downhill curve near the 1.5 mile marker, where I was using the skate deck. A few small patches of dirt in the snow on the west side track, but nothing bothersome for no-wax, casual skis. Enjoy the skiing!

Great conditions! An occasional stick here and there. Was able to use race skis without fear of ruining base. Skied all trails and there was full coverage and a decent base.

The black loop is groomed old school. Old school is when the first skier lays down the track and everyone follows after them. Still one of the best classic loops around.

Fun fast conditions for classic. Skied the purple loop and found great tracks, especially considering what the groomers had to work with. Found that my trusty no wax skis worked best. Just enough debris to gum up a kick zone. If you see the groomers out and about, please tell them how much we appreciate their work. Arrive early. Got there at 9:30 and the lot was filling fast. By 11:30 the line at the rangers station was all the way back to Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive.

Great conditions considering the rain, snow and sleet accumulations of the past few days. Jeff worked his magic again.
I used good skis and didn't hit anything. Track is fairly deep and a tad icy, good skating deck. Loved it.

Fresh cord.....with a dusting of new snow. Perfect conditions. Tracks set for classic, looked decent. Very little debris, and no ice. Thank you groomer for a wonderful morning out of skiing!
