Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
We've had two thaws in as many weeks with no new snow. The trail system is very hard and hard to do much with. What we have that's skiable is the Brown Trail and we created a loop using the Green trail with a backwards Red trail to return to the Green trail. The best way to access this loop is to ski backwards on the Purple trail which is groomed out to the marsh and use one of the cut throughs. Please be careful as people will be skiing this section in both directions.

Trails were groomed Sunday by Tony. Skied parts of most trails today. Skate lane is good, tracks are shallow and icy with debris on trails. The best loop is the red to green to purple trail. It was pretty darn good. Please don't skate ski if the trails are soft in above freezing weather.

Morning
Secondhand
I stopped by the trailhead and happened to bump into the groomer who reported he was out grooming this morning and then skied. He reported good conditions and he was able to use his best skis. If you go on Monday, please do not ski if the conditions are too soft.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Thanks to all of the volunteers who came out the past two days and liberated the Greenbush Trails from the tyranny of sticks and limbs brought on by rain and wind last weekend. Thanks also to Jeff and Terry for grooming things back into shape. The Greenbush magic prevailed once again, as trails groomed better than expected. Still some sticks throughout and the pines have quite a bit of debris, as expected. Use some caution on downhills and watch out for deep ruts from some fat bikers who should know better. No classic track. Very enjoyable skiing available.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Grooming in progress around 2:00 PM. 100% on the Purple and Brown loops. Kind of nasty through the pines on the purple loop so go slow otherwise not bad. If everyone would pick up at least 25 sticks and we'll have ourselves some good skiing. Traditional ski grooming not happening until new snow falls.

Went to Greenbush tonight with very low expectations and rock skis. My expectations were very wrong.. Stayed on Brown, Red, and Purple - all very skiable and fast. Some debris on purple in the pines, but it's avoidable. Some icy spots but overall good conditions. Thanks groomers. No classic track set, skate skiing only.

Firsthand: Both Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Assistance is needed immediately from NKMN Ski Club and Friends of the Greenbush Trails to remove sticks and limbs. The base appears to have held the rain and warm temps pretty well, but the wind brought much debris that will need to be cleared before the trail system can be groomed again. The youth ski team cleared the Brown Trail and it has been groomed. While there is still some debris it is safe to ski with pretty good conditions. There is no classic track set at this time.

3 inches of new wet heavy snow this morning. Groomers were out early to pack it down. Skiing was excellent early morning, and woods were spectacular looking. Things got slow and sticky by 10 am as things warmed up. Hopefully conditions hold up through the warmer weather.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good skis for skate not so good for classic. Beautiful tracks were filled with debris Tuesday, from the strong winds. With the warmer weather and softer waxes required for classic waxable skis were not a good choice. Tried my harries and they worked better after turning the bottom of my waxable skis brown with leaves.

Always a treat to see the first classic tracks of the season at Greenbush. The trails groomed and set-up well after 8" of powdery snow over the weekend. Wind was blowing and a few pesky oak leaves and pine needles were finding their way onto the tracks, but we're in business at Greenbush.
