2017-2018 season
Reports 5 to 14 of 47    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Sunday, February 18, 2018
Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Pre warm-up: Got out early to check trail and found skiing to be remarkably good on sections that were groomed. Must be alert to icy spots and trail remains thin, but overall bonus skiing at this point. Thanks again Jerry!

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Skate lanes in the upper field were groomed. If we get good bonding tonight, they might be ok. Classic track had filled in with the half inch of snow we received, and are still intact. Watch out for icy patches underneath.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
Trail will remain closed. Tried grooming, but there are a number of small ponds with thin ice on top and some thin areas where dirt is scraped up.

Morning
Observation
[ Trails: Closed ]
Parking lot roped off and trails a thin yet fully covers sheet of icy hard pack. Given the top notch grooming this season, it might take a few inches to get back into condition. Let's stay off and do our snow dance!

Grooming
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
Trails will be closed at noon today (Wednesday) until Friday morning. It is very much appreciated that people stay off the trails to improve the ability to bring them back to good skiing quality. Thank you.

Phenomenal! I believe Jerry is the best groomer in the state! The trail system was fast, very firm and fun. The skiing was little effort and the glide and speed were perfect. The prairies are in A+ shape and the woods are in A shape. I am a little greedy, so I am hoping for more snow next week, haha. Best the trails have been in over two years. Worth the cost of a season pass. Thank you so much for a perfect ski after work. Needed it big time.

About as good as Nordic skiing can get. Firm, fast, perfect corduroy! Get out there now before temps warm up.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied all the classic loops a couple of times. Tracks were yesterday's set plus skiers track in the fresh powdery 5" snow that came last night. Result was a smooth deep powdery track that gripped well with a soft yet fast glide. Extra Blue worked well in the 18 degree temps. Not rocket fast but fun. Skate desk was powdery on top of a firm base. No tracks in the west woods loops. Beautiful day at the trail formerly known as Fox Hill.

Another fantastic morning at CLCF on fresh cord thanks to Jerry! The skate deck was somewhat on the soft side with a dusting of cold, fresh snow but really nice conditions overall. The classic tracks looked firm and fast. By the time we left, the parking lot was nearly full as lots of people were out enjoying a beautiful winter day. Excellent coverage everywhere, use your best skis.
