2014-2015 season

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Valley is Shades of Sugar. Northern Lights is closed. We need some snow!
Valley is a bit sugary. It ranges from 1/2-1" on the slightly downhill to 2-3" on the uphill and corners. NL is closed. I haven't tried it since early in the week, it was getting thin then and with the warm temps after didn't want to risk my skis. The two-way on NL along the road is mostly exposed bike path. Still, it's very skiable, which is more than we can say for most trails right now.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Great conditions for classic and skate on the snowmaking loop!
I went to Elm this afternoon expecting icy conditions. I was pleasantly surprised with a good kick using a hard wax, and super glides! Thanks to the groomers!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent for skating. The classic track was set but the sides were a bit soft. Wonderful sunny day to be out skiing on a firm deck.
Hats off to the Three Rivers Park staff for the grooming magic they continue to work with the limited snow.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Fair for skating and classic at 6:30 pm Thursday.
Generally soft. Uneven in a few places. Generally fairly fast, though, because the loose snow crystals were the refrozen/rounded type, rather than the fresh/sharp/slow type. No hard, icy areas.

Scheduling
High school conference championships, which generally run morning and afternoon, are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Soft groomed ice.
6:00 am ski on the man-made loop. Very soft conditions with uphills already turned to deep "sugar". It wasn't unusual on some of the push-off to sink down 4-5 inches.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Sugary but holding up.
Conditions about as expected at Elm Creek. About half of the 2.4k loop had an inch of soft sugar snow--with more on the uphills, less on the downhills. Still very clean, only some dirt showing up near the chalet. Things were firming up just a little as the temps dropped later in the evening. Skiing was fast despite the soft snow.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Man made conditions are good as expected. Outer trails where skiable Monday with snow cover missing on some portions of the trail.
Was able to skate ski Lake, Creek, Northern Lights and Thicket trails Monday as there was more white then brown out there. Had to double pole eight inch wide patches some times and had to take skis off and walk the very top of Creek trail. It was a great, enjoyable adventure ski outing.

Man-made loop in great shape, just groomed early this morning and a bit fast. I skied classic and the there were touches of ice now and then, but good. 6-8 of us had it all to ourselves at 6:30 AM.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle

Manmade loop was very nice skiing at 4:00 today. We are lucky to have venues like this so we can always have good skiing. With today's heat and sun it should be really fast tomorrow morning for the race. Northern Lights was actually in good shape but decided not to use it for the race as it's pretty thin in a few areas and could be icy.
