Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Perfectly groomed for skate and classic on the man made snow loop.
Wow! The groomers did a fabulous job of serving up near ideal snow conditions on the man made snow loop! The skate deck was very fast but with just the right amount of loose snow on top. Had a lovely ski there! Classic tracks looked great too. Did not venture out on the natural snow loop.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good, icy on Northern Lights.
Skied for a while on the trails in the evening. The man-made loop is fast, and only slightly icy in some places. The Northern Lights loop was icy and rutted, but good to work on your balance on the slippery stuff--something we had none of last year. Only a few dirty sections that were certainly avoidable--A skis maybe, but I was on B skis.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Great! Firm base, best skis usable on man-made loop, but not on Northern Lights loop.
The 2.5 man-made snow loop was in excellent condition-- both the skate and classic sections of the trail were smooth. Fast skiing!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Near perfect on the man made loop.
Great track this morning for striding. Skaters looked to have an excellent deck. Granted this was at 8AM - but lots of snow.

Valley Trail was nice. Fewer classic skiers than skate on Friday night.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: The End is Nigh (for the outer trails).
Yesterday all the outer trails were pretty well-covered for rock skis, despite some debris. Today, the NW side of the multi-use trail was almost impassable on skis past the Nature Center (up near the prairie). Even the Creek/Lake and connection back into Northern Lights trail were getting pretty thin and grassy. Northern Lights itself it still in good shape (B or rock skis, if you are picky), but warm weather this weekend might kill it.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ B skis ]
The artificial snow loop was in great shape as always. The Northern Lights group was freshly groomed, which surprised me. The first big uphill quite dirty and the big downhill icy and rutted at the bottom. This can be bypassed by skiing on the two way trail, because the rest of the loop was in very good shape. Also was told by John B that the multi use trail was great for skating.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good on manmade - fair elsewhere.
Did the full outer loop a couple times in the late evening. Conditions were fast, icy only on the more exposed areas. It was thin, but completely covered on 95% of the trail. Only a few spots where grass was poking through--probably to change after this weekend though. The snowmaking loop and Northern Lights trail were both in good to great condition for skating. Not too much dirty snow and 98% coverage.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Great on the manmade. Fair to good on the Northern Lights/Thicket.
I ventured out skating on NL/T. The climb up Cowabunga had a few dirty spots that were easily avoided. The snow on the lower part of the climb had a little ice and was fast. The big downhill was a little slower as it is north facing and maybe had a little windblown snow as well. I went down on the left side as the snow seemed cleaner. Glided to the top of the next hump...not bad. The rest of the loop had snow somewhat slower than the manmade. Some of the turns in the last 1 K were thin or had dirt showing on the inside of the turns.
