September 17, 2011Near perfect conditions for the 2011 edition of the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival events. Temperatures in the low 50s, combined with dry and fast trails resulted in a number of new course records being set. In the mens 40, a lead pack of five flying guys at the mid-point winnowed down to just three by the end, with Brian Matter becoming the first four-time champion with his victory today (and just missed breaking the two hour mark by 59 seconds). Michael Olheiser and Jason McCartney rounded out the top of the podium. Lea Davison took the womens 40 victory, with Jenna Reinhart roughly four minutes back, followed by Rebecca Sauber. Short and Fat titles went to screaming Jordan Cullen and Anna Ganju.
