  • Head Nordic Coach: College of St. Scholastica (Duluth, MN):
    College of St. Scholastica is seeking candidates for the position of head coach, Nordic skiing. Job summary: To manage all aspects of a successful intercollegiate D-III athletic program in order to increase the College’s enrollment and to promote the College’s image throughout the nation.   • Head Nordic Coach: Harvard University (Boston, MA):
    This position serves as the leader of the men’s and women’s Nordic skiing and embraces the vision of principled leadership, academic integration, and competitive excellence. The Head Coach leads by developing a vision, setting team goals, and building a healthy and transformative culture. The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the program, including student-athlete development, planning and preparation for practices and contests, managing team staff, identifying and recruiting prospective student-athletes, budget, operational logistics, providing leadership to the respective Friends Group, and participating in appropriate University, community, alumni/ae and media relationships – all in compliance with University, Ivy League and NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Grooming Operations: Teacup Nordic (Mt. Hood, OR):
    Mt. Hood, Oregon’s Teacup Nordic is hiring experienced PistenBully operators for next season. We groom the 200 to 400 inch per year of snowfall for our 24km trail system in the early mornings with new PB100s. Living in the Hood River Valley is recommended. Precise volume and schedule of work can be flexible; and will be aligned with our two existing professionals. Compensation starts at $40/hr.   • Marketing Manager: Gear West (Long Lake, MN):
    Gear West is looking to hire a full-time marketing manager who can help create and implement a marketing program across the entire Gear West campus: Nordic, Alpine, Bike, & Web. Marketing duties will include marketing strategy, social media, emails, and additional web promotion both coordinating and individualizing the entities which comprise Gear West. Knowledge of the outdoor business is valued, and the ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors in addition to a strong marketing background.

  • Bike Service Manager: Gear West (Long Lake, MN):
    Gear West is looking to hire a full-time bike service manager to join our fun and passionate team. This position is centered around strong mechanical skills, management abilities, and will be filled by somebody who is comfortable being customer-facing. This new staff member will have a love of the outdoors and experience in the world of cycling. Due to the constant evolution of the outdoor industry and the products surrounding it, this staff member will also be excited to learn and eager to stay updated as the industry evolves.

  • Nordic Program Director: Stratton Mountain School (Stratton Mountain, VT):
    The SMST2 team is planning to expand our program by hiring a Program Director. The Program Director will work closely with the Head Coach supporting the athletes in establishing training and travel plans. They will oversee all outreach projects, fundraising events and social media posts. They will also help with most workouts, but will not travel as much as the Head Coach. Candidates must be positive, organized and knowledgeable in all aspects of cross country skiing.

Terry Penman Passes On

September 26, 2022
Terry Penman of Seeley, Wisconsin passed away peacefully last Thursday, Sept 22nd, surrounded by family and his beloved dog Rooster. Penman played a significant role in the recent developments at the American Birkebeiner as architect of the International bridge, the Great Hall, the timing building, the Outdoor Center, the office and museum, and many of the trailhead cabins. Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Terry’s life at 1 pm on Oct 22nd at the Sawmill in Seeley.

Roy Carlsted Passes On

One of Minnesota's legendary skiers, Roy Carlsted, passed away on Wednesday, August 31st. Carlsted was just shy of 100 years old. A memorial service will be held Sept 17th at North Heights Lutheran Church in Arden Hills.
