Tri-Loppet Coverage

June 28, 2014
Another epic Tri-Loppet event in the books Saturday in Minneapolis! Strong winds and high water played havoc with the start on Lake Calhoun, especially for the pro-class canoes, resulting some big shakeups in the paddling results. Jonathan Sanborn dominated the opening leg in a solo kayak, coming out of the water with nearly a five minute lead, then held Dave Nelson off in a sprint finish to take the mens title. Matt Liebsch nearly made up a 13 minute defect coming off the water to finish roughly a minute back in third. Josie Nelson, powered by a great opening paddle with husband Dave, cruised to the womens title by nearly seven minutes. Caitlin Gregg and Molly Moilanen rounded out the womens podium.
