Trail Loppet Coverage
September 22, 2018A crisp, sunny fall morning on Saturday for the Trail Loppet races at Theodore Wirth. Heavy rains just days before the event forced some course changes, and the new Trailhead building start/finish added some extra challenges, including a nasty stairclimb, as over 1000 athletes participated in the races. In the half marathon, Brian Gregg won the sprint finish over Matt Liebsch with Jeff Lanners third. Alex Gits topped the womens field with Erica Wagner and Vivian Hett rounding out the podium. Seven mile championships were Shaheid Shamsudeen and Jennifer Carpenter. Samuel Swartzendruber and Angie Voight won the 5K division.
