State Meet - Important Info
Remember to get your academic award information sent in to Jason Mork, by Monday February 10th, to allow your athletes to be recognized for their achievements in the classroom. Another Monday deadline... Charlie Banks Relay entries. Be sure to check out the information sheet on our website. Each team is required to provide a worker to help run the race. The race will not start without enough workers in place to manage the event.
IMPORTANT!!! We are moving the Wednesday evening meeting recognition program and dinner from Giants Ridge to the Mesabi East High School in Aurora. Aurora is roughly 6 miles from Giants Ridge. I will post a map on the association website.
MSHSL State Meet bib, chip, and race packet handout will take place starting at 4:00pm in the Mesabi East High School Commons.
The State Meet Coaches Meeting will take place from 4:30-5:30pm on Wednesday February 12th in room M289 of the Mesabi East High School. The first part of the meeting will be the official MSHSL meeting followed by a short Coaches Association meeting. This meeting will be informational only and no action will be taken.
The state meet skier recognition program will begin promptly at 6:00pm in the Mesabi East High School Auditorium. We will seat all of the athletes by section and announce each athlete from the winning team, skiers and alternates, followed by individuals from the section. I would request that everyone be seated prior to the event. After we have announced each athlete we will announce the academic award winners followed by the Coach of the Year awards.
At the conclusion of the recognition program we will dismiss to the cafeteria for our spaghetti dinner. This will be a buffet style dinner allowing people to socialize as much as they choose. There will not be any program during or after the dinner. Tickets will be $10.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased starting at 4:00pm in the Mesabi East High School Commons. We will start with selling to participating teams, athletes, and coaches. We have more capacity than in the past allowing us to serve more people. We will be able to accommodate 400+ in the cafeteria and another 150 in the commons for overflow. Please send me a number of dinner tickets you plan on purchasing. Please do so as soon as possible so we can prepare accordingly.
For those teams or individuals that will have an issue with transportation to and from Giants Ridge, I have tentatively scheduled a school bus shuttle. At this point we would plan on departing the Giants Ridge at 5:30pm and then return after the dinner is completed. Once again, to be able plan accordingly and efficiently I would request that those needing transportation to and from Giants Ridge reply with those numbers as soon as possible.
As I mentioned before, I am requesting the athletes be dressed in clothing that reflects well on our individual programs and respects the hard work everyone has put in to get this this point of their ski career.
