Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

It's been a fabulous skiing season but the time has come to close the trails for the season. Thank you all for your participation and feedback. Spring is right around the corner!

Pretty skated out. Still, the warm temps allowed a little bite, so it was definitely skiable. No icy spots that couldn't be easily avoided. Could use a touch up.

Wow, what a season at Como! The season that keeps on going on! Skate was excellent late afternoon, under a beautiful sky, and got even better into early evening. Classic tracks were solid and glazed on the bottoms. I can't really comment on kick/glide because I was trying out someone else's skis that were not sized right for me. There were a few patches where they were blown in at the tops of hills, but not too badly. Thanks to groomers for keeping skiing going so close to home this late in the season!

Awesome day of skiing, one of the best of the year. Great corduroy and grooming, long late afternoon sun. Thank you groomers, every day to ski is a bonus.

Excellent conditions for both classic and skate. Rare to have it this good post-Birkie. Thanks groomers!

Mid-winter conditions in mid-March! Wow! That said, the skate deck was a tad slow--or was it just that my muscles were tired from trying to skate yesterday before the snow had even stopped falling? (I should have known to wait.) Classic tracks were solid and well-sculpted, just a tad icy on the bottom, but nothing that klister on grip tape (for me) or skins (for my partner) couldn't handle.

23F with a few inches of fresh snow. Complete groom of classic and skate decks. No bare or obvious ice spots. Enjoy the continued winter season!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed a new classic track and skate deck. Classic track is overall in good shape with the few exceptions where there is ice/Slush on the trail. Skate deck overall is decent but there are spots where the wet tacky snow snowballed up and didn't feed out of the groomer very well. Use caution one the long downhill decent due to ice on it and snow not wanting to stick to it. Enjoy the last bit of winter!

Skated 1/2 dozen 3/4 laps on the loop adjacent to the zoo for an hour around 11 am. Skate deck very firm yet able to get an edge. Frozen skate tracks from yesterday made it a little uncertain as a frozen rut would occasionally pull in a ski. A few areas of hard frozen melt from yesterday, though they are dark and very apparent so able to get around them without surprise. The classic tracks looked well defined, and icy hard. I hope that regular grooming will continue as long as the base lasts!

Got out just after the groomer, apparently. I was thrilled to find a great corduroy on the skate deck, especially after finding Battle Creek's skate deck thoroughly skied over earlier this morning. Able to one skate with confidence, easy to balance on the wet (but not saturated) snow. Plenty of base, just a couple of spots over toward the Lexington curve that required a little step around. Great grooming, nice re-route in the back bowl area. The big hill is still in great shape. Pleasant surprise! Long live winter!
