Trail Reports

2018-2019 season
Reports 1 to 6 of 6    Month: Feb | Dec

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skied the golf course trails using my classic skiis, the tracks were there but a bit used, but the snow was great and when I skied between 4-5PM there were only a couple of other skate skiers out. I did one loop which took me up into the woods and down back to the club house, then did a second loop which didn't go through the woods. This is the first time I've skied these trails and it was beautiful, 20F and minimal wind, blue sky with the sun still out. Doesn't look like the groomer has been there for a couple days.

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Skied the trails up Memorial Bluff, and out on the Golf Course yesterday evening. Looks like they were rolled on Monday, or Tuesday before the most recent 2 inches of goose feathers. There is a skier made track for classic, but the soft base and 2" of new snow on the trails would make skating difficult. The trail up the bluff to Memorial was in good shape, but once on top the snow drifts were too deep for the groomers to get through. I tried to bushwhack my way around the prairie but my skinny skis sank in knee deep in places, so I turned around and went back down. The golf course trail was more firm, and in pretty good shape.

Night
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the trails on the bluff in Memorial Park Wednesday night. The trails had not been rolled since the most recent snowfall, and had seen considerable snowshoe traffic. No tracks, and a soft base made for old school classic conditions. As I was finishing, the groomer was heading out to the golf course side of the trails. The trails should really come into shape with a little rolling, and the dropping temps.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
The 1/2 inch of light snow on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning did a great job of refreshing the trail on the golf course. Nice smooth skating all the way around. Just some tree litter under the willows to watch out for. Would recommend B skis.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Skied the golf course trail. Bare patches starting to appear on the south side of the loop. Decent coverage still, but has really hardened as the week has gone on. Getting tough to get an edge.

Afternoon
Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial ]
The golf course had been rolled, and coverage looked decent. A few people out skating at lunchtime. The trails going up the bluff had been rolled, but there was a lot of leaf and stick debris. Don't think I'd venture off the golf course.
