Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied on the Green and Yellow trails and conditions were very decent for spring, with very little litter and no ice or wet spots despite the temperature being above 40F. Still a good base of snow. Tracks were there if shallow in places and the skate deck was in o.k. too. Thanks to the groomers and other helpers for making it a great season, and thanks to Willow River State Park for all the fine trails!

Temperature was 38F and classic tracks were shallow to non-existent, with a few wet and icy spots, but snow was still quite skiable. Nice spring skiing.

For spring skiing its exactly what you would expect. The tracks for classic are wearing thin. The temps sat around 35-39 degrees softening up the deck but skating seemed to work fine. There is some debris on the deck but still seems manageable. A tad slow but good enough if you want to continue to ski in these temps. Anything much colder and then its icy. Its spring skiing! Enjoy!

Trails were groomed but pretty icy in parts. Classic tracks hard to follow in places but met some skate skiers who were having a good time so that's probably your best bet.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed for skate and classic the entire system. We had 1/2" new in top of a hard surface. It broke up okay but there are chunks on the deck in some places. The tracks are shallow. These are not mid-winter conditions but the skiing should be fair. No bare spots but a few icy glaze spots in 2% of the trails so be careful on the downhills.

The classic track is in great shape at Willow. Despite sub-freezing temps, the tracks creaked a little and got a little soft in the open sun areas. Overall, however, the tracks were in great shape--firm, with little debris and no bare spots. No worries at all about good skis. Looks like it should hold for a few more days!

Skied Red, Blue and Green. Wow..like mid winter conditions. Real untransformed snow...a gift. Trails were a bit soft due to new snow, and snow after grooming yesterday but so much fun. No ice. Everytime I ski I am extremely grateful to the all volunteer grooming crew..working late into the season. Get out there! BTW the classic track looked very nice.

Trails had been groomed earlier and another inch of fresh snow had fallen earlier in the day, so skate deck wasn't ideal. Classic tracks were excellent though if a bit sticky in places with the temperature at 32F. Skied Purple trail and the loop across the river. Nice to still get out.
