Trail Reports

2022-2023 season
Reports 1 to 2 of 2    Month: Mar | Nov
Thursday, March 16, 2023
Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied first from the Wax Building: Hairpin, Balsam and Maple Loops; then from the Nara Trailhead: Ridge, Down Under, Tanglewood, Homestead and return to Nara on the Ridge Trail. Light drizzle on and off, temps in the mid 30's. Trails in great shape in spite of the rain and warmer temperatures. Impeccable Michigan Tech grooming, as always -- grooming is done on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as needed and as conditions permit. MTU now has a newer PistenBully in addition to the older Bombardier grooming machine.

We've been skiing all week at the Tech trails. with new snow through the week, there is really a good base now and I skated 15 k in Friday without hitting anything but snow. We have about 18 inches of snow in the woods. The groomers are still just rolling and there are no classic tracks but the decks are improving and should be really solid for Thanksgiving week. Picture is from Monday, and everything is much better now.
