Spring conditions, and we had a pretty warm weekend. It may have hit 50 on Saturday, so the trails got pretty crusty and icy. Groomers were out as the temp dropped yesterday so restored the skate lane to a fast granular track, really pretty nice classic track is icy in spots, but was also redone. Should be a nice weekend.

35 degrees but snow was in good shape, used waxless skis (fish scales) to get better kick. Still had good glide with warm temps. Classic tracks were in good shape except for the curves which were semi washed out. A little frustrating as my skis wanted to wander, or it could be partly me being tired. All in all, it was a beautiful day with the georgous pines.

Best ever conditions after 3” new snow earlier this week. Trails were groomed 2/17 and Mike just redid the skate lane into pristine goodness. Our last open house of the season is Sunday from1-3:30, free ski loaners available. MN ski pass required. Pics are from Eagle (first 3) and Lilly’s. Snowshoe trail is mapped and packed and a few shoes also available for Sunday.

Nice to have 3" of new snow to work with. Debris on trail have been covered up, classic tracks back to full depth and skate in good shape.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We just finished grooming and setting tracks on all trails at Soaring Eagle. We were able to break up the icy top layer on skate deck, so should good by morning. Classic tracks turned out fine with a few shallow areas. The winds tonight will probably bring more debris on to trail, but overall should be pretty good skiing for the next few days.

High winds today dumped loads of debris in classic tracks making them largely unusable. Skate deck remains rutted but fast.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
There is new snow (about 1”) over the old ice crust and the classic tracks are worn out in places. Pretty icy under some spruce and at some turns. Some debris, mostly needles, in classic tracks. Overall, not too bad. Skate deck is uneven and crusty ridges remain under the new powder, but it remains serviceable. I have heard that grooming may take place by Friday..

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We had 1" new snow Fri-Sat, covering a crusty/icy base. Conditions remain mostly good, but the base feels icy and choppy, especially in the skate lane on the hills. Grooves at the bottom of downhills would kick your skis around, giving an "unstable" feeling. Classic track is otherwise generally good, with a few twigs and leaves, and the little bit of new snow did help. Trails were groomed Wednesday this week.

Excellent condition. We had a dusting of snow Wednesday evening. All trails groomed Friday night. Classic track is solid with skate lane firm and fast.

Excellent conditions continue, with no new snow but still a 2’ + snow depth. Classic track is solid and quick, and skate lane is almost a little crusty, firm and fast. Grooming planned for later this week, and looks like a pleasant weekend ahead.
