2021-2022 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 72    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
It is sort of a free-for-all right now - trail meanders all over. Nothing has been groomed since the snow and a few ice ruts have been formed from folks skiing mid-day. I found it more enjoyable to skate in untouched snow to the side. That said, there is a lot of snow to work with and it is definitely frozen all the way down. Recommend classic today if you have an option.

The course was not groomed for skate skiing over the weekend. Plenty of low spots with icy and slushy conditions. I was skijoring and made it out ok but not recommend for skate skiers, especially if you're not going out with a dog.

Friend asked me out for a lunch hour ski. I'm so glad I went! It's a mess, but it's skiable, and icy soupy sections are totally avoidable. Lots of classic skiers have been out. It's a gorgeous sunny day, and I finished with a big stupid grin on my face. Glad I went.

The 4K loop is definitely skate-skiable without hitting dirt, grass, or asphalt, but you need to be willing to dodge a few burn-outs and ski around them. I enjoyed a few laps of the 4K loop for a lunch hour casual ski. Really fun rock ski conditions. Classic tracks are non-existent in many places, so probably not ideal for classic skiing.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
The 1k loop is scratched up with one spot on the cutoff that required some navigation between the grass spots. The 2k loop has a larger stretch of no snow, so I only groomed one pass there. The full 4K loop was not groomed. The 1k loop has decent coverage and the skate deck responded to the grooming decently.

It's skiable, but hasn't been groomed in a while. There are a few places where you have to figure out the snow/earth maze to get through. Some ruts to deal with from prior day skiers, but I'd say 80% is still readily skateable with firm ice base and ability to get a little edge. Classic tracks looked decent enough.

Every bit of snow helps! Groomed wide skate deck as well as dropped fresh classic tracks. Also groomed walking path (which is the one on the left of the sticks). Almost fully snow covered. A few small grass patches and icy spots remain, but generally looked really good. Enjoy the snow this weekend! NOTE: On Sunday there will be a large activity with lots of kid and family traffic. This is happening for a few hours mid-day. So, be aware of some extra traffic that day.

Hiawatha was great this morning! A few icy and bare spots to ski around, but totally manageable. Thanks groomers!

Course looks great. A couple of icy patches but other than that you gotta get out there! Classic tracks are nice and deep. Things should be set up nicely over night. We plan on getting out to freshen things up most nights this week.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The recent snow helped improve conditions quite a bit, but the steady wind is making it a challenge to keep it on the trails. Tonight I groomed the skate deck and put down classic tracks. I also managed the multi-use trail and the 1k and 2k loops. We are trying to keep the trail consistent with the markers, but we are moving a few sections where the ice and bare ground is most challenging.
