Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
The snow depth is very good. The trails have not been recently groomed. A few classic skiers had been out ahead of me, following Thursday night's snowfall, and made the beginnings of a class track for the North Loop. Unfortunately someone walked on about half of the track going out on the Loop. Further out the track had been made by one or two skiers, without any hikers. The snow in the track was sticky, so it was slower and more wearing. It was snowing lightly while I was there.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
After the recent snowfall, the trails have not yet been groomed. However, the North Loop trail has a great classic track created by several skiers who preceded me on the trail. The snow conditions are fantastic. The skier-made classic track is quite functional. Get out there and enjoy it!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Groomed the west trail skate deck. I was able to remove most of the footprints and old ski tracks. There are only two icy spots, otherwise everything is snow covered. The main icy spot is right where trail leaves the field and enters the woods so be cautious there. The corduroy is sort of chunky, but it should be skiable at least until it warms up again.

Overall pretty good. Cold temps had the tracks good and firm. A few blown out spots. The wind caused a lot of leaves/debris to land in the tracks (especially in the pines) not a big deal but could certainly feel the impact slowing down the glide. (From south loop and west trail).

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Really nice conditions again. They just regroomed either last night or early this morning and everything is in really good shape with adequate coverage for the tracks I skied - Classic skied south, west spur and part of north. With the cold, things were firm and the texture of the snow was definitely different from previous weeks.

The little bit of snow we got this morning and a regroom made for very good conditions. Only skied out of the parking lot to the end of the ridge trail and back (about 5 miles), but looking out all the spurs and the north loop and everything looks great. Bangor has been on top of their grooming this year and trails have been maintained really well!

Thank you for grooming Kevin Schilling. The conditions are better than good, they are excellent! About 1 inch new powder snow last night.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed the skate deck and set classical tracks. There are a couple of thin spots under the conifers on the south loop, otherwise the conditions are good.

There is no experiment at the Experimental Forest... Conditions on Saturday were wonderful. I can't believe how good the conditions were for such a small snowfall.
I was the second skate skier on the deck (which was firming up while I was out there). Between the fresh snow in the trees combined with the new hoar-frost made for pristine conditions. Kudos to the groomers and the people who have done all the trail work.

With the limited snow that fell these trails were groomed impeccably. Huge corduroy deck and great tracks. A bit soft but whatever. On the one way classic there is a few thin spots under the pines, to be expected. The only reason for B skis in my opinion. Pristine gorgeous forest and topography for long aerobic laps. What a treat.
