Trails A, B, C, D and Shortcut were groomed and tracked. Trails A and D are groomed for classic skiing. Trail B, C and Shortcut were groomed for skate and classic. There is one short narrow section on C where it crosses a wetland, but otherwise it is nice and wide. The new snow was a just the right temperature and consistency to pack up really well to give us a great skiing surface. Get out and enjoy them as it won't be long before spring is here!

Perfect conditions and tracks. Also saw someone had skate skied. Skied B and C loops. Enough new snow that the sometimes pesky oak leaves were undercover.

A, B, C, D and Shortcut were groomed and tracked. Loops B and Shortcut are groomed for classic and skate skiing. A and C can be skate skied as well, just be aware that there are a few minor sections where the trail narrows a bit. Temperatures are looking to improve a bit to, but hopefully not getting too warm! I did at least three passes on each trail too to get the post holes groomed out that the deer had left us, and with the cold temperatures tonight things should firm up nicely.

Had a very nice ski. Skied in track had good glide and was in good shape mostly. Not groomed well enough to make skating worthwhile, however. Skate deck had 2-3 inches of powder and sometimes the track ran down the middle of the trail.

We received about 6 inches of new snow on Thursday. Our groomer was out during the snow rolling and grooming the trails to get the fresh snow to set up into a solid foundation as the snow was still a little thin in some spots prior to this storm. All trails were groomed and tracked and should be in excellent condition for the those that are brave enough to venture out in the arctic blast. Some additional brushing was done as well in the wetland crossing on C loop and it is in great shape. The warming shelter at the trail head is closed due to COVID so skiers should plan accordingly.

A, B, C, D and Shortcut were groomed and tracked today, with B and Shortcut maintained for classic and skate skiing. The snow is a little thin in the wetland crossing on C loop still, but you can easily ski across it. A few spots have a little vegetation poking through the snow on the edges of the trail, but we have a really great base and skiers have been reporting that the trails are nice and fast.

Unfortunately Mother Nature did not cooperate for us last night and the storm tracked to the west and south of us. Approximately 1" of fresh, dense snow fell overnight with not much else in the forecast for today. Due to the lack of new snow and the above freezing temperatures there will be no fresh grooming for the weekend. But on the bright side, this snow will help provide a good solid base to work with once the next system comes through. Monday, January 18 is also a Fee Free Day on the National Forest in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

All trails were rolled, with the corduroy flap down to help give skiers and good base to work with. The wetland crossings on A, C and Kiddie are all frozen up from the earlier cold snap. Snow is thin though and it may be easier to walk across the wetland crossing on C loop until we get more snow. Snow is approximately 2" deep on the trail after rolling. Once conditions improve the trails will be groomed and tracked, but it’s too thin at the moment to set track for classic skiing.
