Skied the section south of County Road E/F starting at the top of the climb from the channel to Sucker Lake all the way to Edgerton and back. The trail was in fair to poor condition. There was never a break in the trail but along the section running along the east arm of the lake I had to skate around several bare ground intrusions into the track. Otherwise the track was well enough defined to permit me to diagonal stride the entire length of the trail. This was despite the fact that some walker had intentionally walked in the track from the right angle turn at the intersection of Mcmenemy and Koehler all the way to Edgerton. Lots of seed and leaf litter but despite my skis being waxed with Red Klister none adhered to them. There was some ice ice, particularly along the sun-exposed section along the east arm of the lake. Otherwise it was drier to wet corn. I didn't have great kick so I restrained how strongly I extended the kick ski backward but I was able to maintain a steady pace and was able to double pole and kick down the hill to the west of the intersection of Mcmenemy and Koehler and several of the flats. After my unsuccessful attempt to classic ski Cleary yesterday- ended up skating with my combi skis and classic poles instead - I wanted to successfully classic ski to prove to myself the Red Klister would work okay at the slightly higher temperature of 37 degrees today rather than yesterdays 34 degrees. The temp and a fairly well defined track seem to make the difference. Nice to get out and enjoy the sun at not too bad a pace.

Vadnais Trail was recently groomed and double tracked. Great conditions, deep and firm track. However even with temps in the low 30s, exposed areas are deteriorating quickly in the sunshine.

Not groomed for skating but great conditions for classic. Beautiful snow and minimal foliage on the tracks. [ These trails are designated as classic only. -- Ed. ]

Skied Sucker Lake portion north from Cty F. Though at some point it appears some light packing was done, not groomed and very soft. However, there are double skier-made tracks all the way around the lake. Thorough coverage, minimal debris. Stomped sections but only in the usual swan-viewing spots. Beware on the downhill from 96 the tracks press into deep and bizarrely ankle-grabbing ice.

Skied east side of Vadnais today, and what a difference recently groomed snow makes. Tracks are well set and not trampled (except the occasional deer). Great time to get out before the next warmup.

The south lot at Vadnais was plowed at 8 am, the north lot was not. Not groomed on the south loop but someone went ahead and paved the way. Great skiing! Beautiful. So nice to have fresh snow.

Skied the Sucker lake loop today and a big section was plowed or destroyed by apparently some construction. The tracks were soft, pretty worn and a fair amount of leaves and detritus was on the trails. I would recommend the Vadnais portion of the trail instead.

Skied on portion south of Cty Rd F. Classic tracks were a bit soft set with some loss especially on outer edge at times. Fair amount of tree debris in some places, but didn't hinder as badly as other times here. Decent overall conditions.

It was a great ski for me; easily got back into the grove. Yes, a leaf here and there but no trigs or branches. Beautiful day out! Found a pair of sunglasses, copperish color framed wire rim.

Trail was suprisingly nice given the weather this week. It was recently groomed with double tracks. There are still some sticks and leaves in the wooded areas. The outer set of tracks is thin in spots. The tracks were an interesting combination of soft fresh snow and soft ice. Waxless fishscales worked well with the new snow and temperatures around freezing.
