Afternoon

Classic skied the south loop late afternoon. Would give it an overall rating of good to fair. Some icy/thin spots in more exposed trail, better conditions in shaded woodland segments.

Classic skied the south loop trail this afternoon at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park. Very good track set, hats off to the grooming crew! Heard that north loop was only rated fair condition presently.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skied the South loop. It was in great condition. Quite a few skiers for a Thursday afternoon, enjoying the somewhat warmer weather like I was. I looked at the North loop and it looked good too, but didn't have classic tracks in some areas.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skied the north loop. It was very well groomed with very few holes from walkers and none in the classic tracks. It was a little icy, and some areas had a quite a few leaves in the tracks but otherwise it was in nice condition.

Conditions are very icy on the skate deck and classic track. Base is still thin in many spots on the south end of the park. Fair to poor condition.

North Loop is open and skiable not currently groomed but Okay and in some places icy classic tracks that look to be there mostly from use. Skate deck has been mostly used by walkers and is pretty packed down.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Kicking off the new year with freshly groomed trails and great snow. Some walker prints in most areas; fat tire marks in the south loop. It was just soft enough that it was easy to glide over everything, but firm enough to keep walkers from making postholes. Gorgeous fresh cord on west part of south loop. One spot around 10:00 on the south loop where a little turf got churned up, which is the reason for B ski rating. All of north and at least half of south loop were tracked. My friend was riding skins and he said tracks were good. May have seen Santa, he said he was working off a lot of Christmas cookies. First time here, really enjoyed the scenery and friendly vibe.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails were groomed Thursday and classic track was set on the north loop of the park. Trail should be in good condition for skating except for windblown areas where base will be limited. Classic track will be in fair to good condition with thin base sporadically.
