Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Classic trail north of golf course terrible. Icy and bare in many spots. My advice is to use self-made tracks on the golf course. Much more enjoyable over there. Would be nice if a classic track was groomed next to skate track like they do in other locations. We do need more snow to make conditions ideal again.

Classic skiing through and around the woods in the North part of the park across from the golf course was delightful. Thanks to the park staff for the new bridges over the creek. Lots of skiers were out Saturday afternoon.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
After 1 1/2 hours of skiing through wind blown loops on the golf course, a knight in shining armor appeared; a Milwaukee county park staff member who came out to groom at 10:30 am. The course was somewhat improved afterwards with some near bare spots that are easily avoided, some soft areas and a bit of twig and leaf debris. The course is a bit shorter because of tree removal work in the southeast section of the course. No tracks for classic skiing were laid.

Overall not too bad! The base is thin and the trail is soft as you would expect after 4-5 inches of wet snow 2 days ago and there are some twigs on trail. The cart path near club house has been plowed so you'll need to take your skis off to cross there. I'd head east on the trail and go clockwise. Thanks for the grooming Tim! Hoping for more snow this week.

Skied the entire 5k skate loop at sunset. Lots of rocks and sticks poking out with a couple of sections with cart path exposed. There were two cart path crossings where removing skis were the only option to cross. Ended up skiing the section near parking back and forth up to the clubhouse because it seemed in best shape. Iā€™d recommend taking your talents elsewhere.

This classic skier picked his way around the golf course and enjoyed the weather and work out. Several detours were necessary but well worth it to me.

Skate track is functionally unskiable ā€” frozen ruts and bare patches. Crust skiing however was very good as of 8:30 am for the obsessed/desperate/time-pressed eager to get in a double pole or interval workout on the hill.

About 2ā€ has fallen and the park staff groomed at about 1:00 PM. Very consistent deck and now path avoids logging at south end of 6th hole. The new snow is warm and compacted easily and well. Grateful for the regular grooming, snowfall and distance from home / work for many skiers.

Just groomed skate lane, very flat-good coverage. Groomers did a great job getting the ruts out of the corners.

Groomer had recently gone around for the second time the first was right after the storm. It made a huge difference and made for a very good skate experience. The track is level and forgiving. The only bummer is the logging disruption on the east end of the 6th hole. Otherwise very good conditions.
