Trail Reports

2019-2020 season
Reports 1 to 3 of 3    Month: Jan
Sunday, January 19, 2020
Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All trails are groomed, either for skating (campground area) or classic Brady’s Bluff north, Perrot Ridge, Cedar Glade, White Pine and Wilber’s. Trails in open areas between bluff and campground trails fared well during high wind events. Trails are fast, we had snow flurries all Sunday. Highland trails have moderate to little leaf litter creating some problem with kick and glide for classic tracks.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Friday night this area received several inches of fresh powder snow. Current high winds may cover newly groomed and tracked trails with hard accumulation of drift snow. Lowland trails are all groomed. Skating trails in the campgrounds have a nice deck and are packed. Wilbers, White Pine, Brady's North and connecting trails are groomed and have at least one set of tracks for classic skiing. The groomer indicated high winds have brought a few trees down across Perrot Ridge trail. Volunteers are monitoring Highland trails for further wind falls as wind speeds are expected to remain high thru the weekend. High winds will make Perrot Ridge trail and sections of Cedar Glade susceptible to drifting and hard pack snow erasing tracks in areas. Care must be taken in Highlands and backcountry.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Monday night’s snow provided about two inches of packable snow. Skating trails within the campground loops have been successfully packed. Classic skiers have Wilbers and White Pine to venture. These trails are packed only, no grooming tool was used on the snow machine due to ice base. Look for grooming efforts to continue with additional snowfall. The trails in the highlands are yet ungroomed. Those upland trails are icy with lots of pedestrian traffic mess, marginal for skiing.
