Tilson skating was nearly perfect today. Green trail is icy but the rest was good. The Red trail is losing snow as usual in the spring and I walked the hills just south of the shelter. There are a few rocks to watch out for, but overall it’s just fine.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
After the thaw-freeze-thaw freeze this week we got a couple of light snowfalls, and cool enough temperatures to make grooming worth while. We ran both Ginzus around all trails today, setting tracks in most places. The Red Trail has lost quite a bit of cover and will soon be in full “spring “ ski mode - lots of bare ground coming. It’s fine now but watch out. The Green, Orange, Yellow, and Blue are good. Some tracks are thin where we couldn’t go deep enough.

Looking forward to nice weather at last, we groomed all of Tilson Creek trails today with both Ginzus. Overall it looks fine.

Freshly groomed yesterday from the 3” of new snow. A couple of rocks still showing on hills that can be easily avoided. The parking lot was empty at noon but about 6 vehicles in the lot at 2:30. Skied 26 and saw 3 other skiers.

I Falls got about 3” of snow Saturday night and all day Sunday. We groomed with both Ginzus this morning, setting tracks on all trail sections. The skate lane looks great but will be soft until the snow sets up, so please wait or use classic skis.

With more new snow - maybe 3 to 4” - we used both Ginzus on all trails. Tracks and skate lane looked great, and should set up well over the cold days following.

More snow. More grooming. We used both Ginzus today, grooming the skate lane and setting tracks everywhere, including the Little Blue Hill trail and the Blue Return.

With about an inch of snow on Monday we were able to do a nice job tuning up the skate lane on all trails this afternoon. We rolled followed by Ginzu on all the skate lanes including the Little Blue Hill trail which is now fine for skating either way. We also packed and rolled the Blue Return both ways, so that, too, is fine for skating.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
With about 2” of wet snow falling Friday, I covered all trails except the Blue Return with the Ginzu this morning. Tracks turned out better than expected given fairly shallow base, and the skate lane looks super. There are a few places where the groomer drags up some dirt, and there still are some rocks to watch out for, thus the B ski recommendation. There were a few skaters out today while I was grooming who reported the deck was firmer and faster than expected. It should be very nice tomorrow.

Logging on the Blue trail has been postponed until late winter. Sunday we opened the trail, packed with sleds and rolled. Once the snow sets up it should be ok for skating but it will be a while before we can set tracks. The Blue Return trail is rough.
