Beautiful grooming on the man-made snow loop, really improved since before the snow. Good tracks, mostly firm, smooth deck, no ice in late morning, just a little mushiness as the sun beat down. There is one gouge at the bottom of the steep hill on Twin Lake trail to watch, but it's easily avoided. Epic spring skiing!

Awesome April Fool's day grooming for some late morning/early afternoon skiing at Wirth! White base skis worked better than black base skis, especially towards the afternoon. The forest debris and trees were pretty much all cleared out by afternoon - thanks groomers!

It was definitely spring skiing at Wirth this afternoon with all the fresh new snow, warm temps and bright sunshine! There were a lot of skiers out enjoying this season's last hurrah! The groomers had groomed for both skate and classic. The classic tracks were in the best shape in the more open areas. Conditions were variable in the woods by Twin, but it was still a fun ski. Thanks to the groomers for extending our season into April!

Loads of new snow, but it's warming up fast. Some areas near the Trailhead are groomed for both styles. Ungroomed snow got sticky in the sun. Fun and beautiful!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Lower Stadium, Green Meadow, Inner Meadow, and up to Coach's Corner are groomed as of Saturday morning. Twin Lakes is currently not passable with a groomer due to downed and snow laden trees. Update: Twin lakes is now groomed. Be aware of several low hanging trees. Enjoy the winter wonderland!

Word of the day is variable. The man-made snow loop was nicely groomed and the tracks were mostly good. In mid-afternoon the sun and temperature meant that some areas were almost slushy, while just a few feet further, everything was hard. Be careful coming down from Coach's Corner - you get alternating very soft and hard sections. But a beautiful day to be out.

The 3.5K was freshly groomed overnight and was in great shape this morning, no real icy spots to speak of but crusty and fast. Things did transform notably over the course of the morning: despite the cool temps, the warm sun still has a lot of melting power and things did start to get slushy! You'd likely be fine using good skis, just a bit of debris mixed into the snow at this point in the season. Remember to pay more attention to the sun than the air temp if you're looking for crusty goodness!

Well another stellar ski with incredible klister conditions and Guru 39 Extreme as the winner. Tracks were shallow and soft to icy but that did not matter, kick was great and the first lap I was all alone. Go ski. Thank you groomers.

Observation Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
We are going to continue grooming a smaller loop on the snowmaking trails - Green Meadow, Twin Lakes, and up to Coach's Corner. Normally our operating agreement with MPRB has us stopping grooming by the 22nd, but they are letting us get get some bonus days in. Continued grooming will be dependent on weather and conditions.

I skied the remaining man-made snow loops at around 2 pm today. Temps in the 40 and sunshine made it enjoyable, even though a rookie skater like me found the conditions a bit challenging. Lots of loose granular on the uphills and some grabby warm spots on the downhills. Still, great to ski a few loops and enjoy a cool beverage in the Trailhead. The snow is browning, but is mostly free from debris. Classic tracks are but a shadow, though I saw quite a few classic skiers enjoying the snow. A great day on the Loppet trails.
