Trail Detail
Notes
Most of the trails are on the golf course, thus pretty open and fairly flat. The course really winds back and forth.Trail Reports

Classic tracks in very good condition. Tracks are clean and fast. Just a few areas of outside track breakdown on curves. Beautiful sunny landscape and temperature was just right. Very enjoyable!

6.5K groomed. Snow was good but there were a few issues with the groomed trail. The last two times I've skied here, there are three different tiers across the trail, each a couple inches different in height. Today that made skating frustrating, because the trail was a bit soft on the edges so I had to straddle the center tiers. And it was a bit soft except in the turns and steeper climbs. The soft snow made V2 tough because in DPs the pole tips sank a couple inches in, robbing power. I will probably stick with the man-made snow for skating until things firm up a bit.

Pristine conditions at Phalen today. The classic tracks were solid and deep throughout and setting up nicely. The times on skied on the skate deck were infrequent, but I found it was a bit soft. So beautiful with the snow-covered trees -- one of my favorite places to ski on the east side.

The tracks are in great shape at Phalen. They are smooth and firm throughout, with just a few washed out spots and almost no debris. The pole deck was getting a little chewed up in places, making the surface soft, but I always got good purchase (with minimalist baskets) and never had a pole plunge. The skate deck appears to have firmed up since I skied yesterday, but still looks pretty uneven. I think classic will be my preferred technique at Phalen until the deck smooths out some more. It would be great to see two sets of tracks set.

Phalen has been beautifully groomed. Skate lane is almost settled firm. How often do we ski corduroy around here? Classic tracks look perfect. Phalen is best kept secret in East Metro.

Excellent coverage and fresh corduroy. Good conditions for Phalen, but the deck was soft, slow, and uneven in a number of places. Hopefully with the cold temps and a few more passes with the groomer it will firm up and smooth out. I asked one of the several classic skiers out how the tracks were, he reported "deep and solid".

The trail groomed up very nicely. We set a classic track along with a skate deck. There is one small stretch where trail is little uneven with some bumps due to soft snow and groomer getting stuck. Otherwise great base and conditions! Haven't seen a base like this in a long time!

The tracks are mostly in good condition, no bare ground. Faster than it was a couple of days ago as the snow has crusted over, but very skiable.
