Notes

Most of the trails are on the golf course, thus pretty open and fairly flat. The course really winds back and forth.

Phalen was pretty good, hard track but groomed recently. Edging was good. Shallow classic track. Very good coverage. Use your good skis.

Phalen is still holding up well. Skate deck is firmer but soft enough to get a good edge, it hasn't been groomed for a few days. Classic tracks still firm and in most case holding their form.

Trail was groomed for skate and classic skiing. Skate deck was firm and in good condition. It was well used but not hard pack. Tracks looked very good and fast.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Got out to Phalen late morning found the conditions to be very good. The groomer had just finished doing the both the skate and classic before I got there. The tracks were very good. Great coverage including hill tops and under trees with only minor debris on the trail. Almost nobody out on the trails. The tracks were soft in a few places including the right pole plant. By the end of my 3 lap, the tracks were starting glaze up a bit, but still very good. I was using skins, but fish scales would also work.

The track is in really fine condition with only the curves showing some deterioration. Didn't skate but the grooming looked great and those that were using looked to be having a blast.

Due to various flu-like issues I have had a long break from skiing (late December). I decided to try the relatively easy trails at Phalen and had a great time. Everything was groomed. Skate deck looked hardly used and set tracks were great. Maybe about 50 feet of track is worn away but the rest as good as it gets.

Chilly but good skiing today. Both skate deck and classic tracks have been groomed and are in great shape, not too wind blown yet. Only noticed one area with leaves in the trail.

New snow. Trailblazers were out to make a nice classic trail to follow. It doesn’t follow the normal course, but it will get you by until the groomers get out there.

The trails were not groomed as of this morning. Skaters and classics have been out though. The new snow is nice as the trail had quite a bit of leaves, ice and some bare spots on the classic track.

Not groomed yet after the recent snowfall. Classic tracks were skied in around the normal trail. and a few skaters had also been out breaking their own trail. Good snow coverage everywhere.
